As tourism and touring grew in the early and mid 20th century, sending letters and postcards was one of the main forms of communications friends and family would use to share their travels and remind loved ones that they were thinking of them while away. Bendigo's geographic location in central Victoria and relatively closeness to Melbourne has meant that capturing the tourist dollar has been an important focus for promotional activities of the City. We had a/ dance Christmas night st the house and it was/ very enjoyable. There are lovely kind friendly/ people here, and everything is very pleasant./ We went for a lovely walk to the/ wishing well and the Taggerty river yesterday/ morning. Yesterday afternoon we went in for/ a swim in the swimming pool and it/ was lovely. Last night we had a bit of a talent/ quest and I won the ladies section and a man/ won the mens. There is a walking track through the forest that will take you to the Big Tree.
