The Nunawading Ladies Benevolent Society became the Whitehorse Emergency Relief Network in 1999 when a number of local organizations were encouraged to form a network by Betty and Keith Rooney. Thomas Rooney was born in Den Carvan, Ireland, spent 36 years in Australia.
