This uniform was made for the students of the Ballarat College of Advanced Education, School of Nursing. It was probably used in about 1986, then put on display in the School of Nursing until 2005..1) White princess style uniform with central front zipper and set in side pockets. It has machine embroidery around the collar and short sleeves. It has a back yoke with side pleats. .2) The apron is junior navy in colour with green binding and an orange emblem on the front left breast. It has a full back and front with ties at the side. Northern District School of Nursing nurse's capeA red unlined cape with collar. Hook and eye at collar front. There are bands applied to outside shoulder of the cape on both sides and constructed with a centre back seam. The cape was worn outside the hospital when walking from accommodation. The accompanying documents are a photo of the original owner and donator of the cape, Vicki Simpkins, and a photo of the graduation group of nurses, 1972, in which Vicki is indicated.There is a white cotton label at rear inside centre collar with 'PURE WOOL' printed in blue and 'W' printed in red. A blue arrow has been added to the graduation photo above Vicki Simpkins' head. The photo of Vicki has the inscription in black pen 'To Mum and Dad with all my love Vicki xx June 1970". There are corresponding buttonholes on left side for closing, a small pocket at top left and a pocket at RHS of skirt. There is a small buttonhole at back of neck to attach white collar and white cuffs are attached to sleeves with two white buttons. The front has gathering from below the shoulders and the back top has an inverted pleat at centre. There is a white belt with two white buttons at one end attached with shanks and three sets of two button holes at the other end for closing. There is a white cap with frill and a line of blue braid above the frill indicating a third year trainee. There is a white apron with four buttonholes at the waist for closing and for the two shoulder straps.A white tag with Joy Lewis' in red is attached to all items. N.T.S in black marking pen is printed on back hem of neck.
