Note the building on the corner of Spring and Flinders St, prior to the construction of Shell House mid 1980's. Map of the system shown at two inches = 1 mile. Drawing No. P5799. Shows crossovers, track layouts at junctions, signal cabins roads, railways, and stations. Originally signed by Perway Engineer - 20/12/1940, though originally drawn in 1922. The plan shows the lines to Maribyrnong Munitions works along Cordite Ave and Wests Road and the track from Moonee Ponds to Union Road, opened in July 1941, and the extension to Essendon Airport built in 1942, but not the Queen St North Essendon substation. Copy negative of an illustration of cable cars in Elizabeth St at the corner with Collins St. Has the Elizabeth St station n the view, along with Craigs and the Royal Bank. Rod Atkins advised 24/08/2020: "Dates from around 1914. taken 11.53 am in high summer. The Flinders Street Railway station looks complete but we still have all the telephone cables on poles in both Elizabeth and Collins Streets. I don't know the year they all went underground. We have two standard "Fitzroy" trams in Collins Street and one West Melbourne tram with standard eight window trailer - no bogie trailers in the photo. Some of the West Melbourne trailers were still six window cars in the 1920's. The major building in the photo is the "Royal Bank" on the South East Cnr. of Collins and Elizabeth Street. In 1991, the Australian Electric Traction Association (AETA) produced 7 different options to provide public transport to the Doncaster area. See reference for background to the proposals. Six of the seven options have been found and collected. Each option provides a summary, costing based in a scope of works. The Options were: 1 - Light Rail to Doncaster Shoppingtown via Eastern Freeway/Doncaster Road 2 - Light rail to Mitcham Road/Springvale Road 3 - High-performance train to Doncaster Shoppingtown via Victoria Park station Eastern Freeway/Doncaster Road 4 - Heavy rail to Doncaster Shoppingtown via Eastern Freeway to Bulleen Road and underground to Shoppingtown 5 - Heavy Rail to Blackburn Road/George St East Doncaster 7 - Extension of the Camberwell Tram (72) along Burke Road from Cotham Road to Doncaster Road. Pictured is the Lazarus Crushing Plant and boiler house, Lansell's '222'. Amd the new Chum Mines in the background. On the inside at the top is the New Chum Railway, Golden Square. Pictured is the mine and its buildings, two chmneys, two large wood stacks and other mines in the background. On the left, a man is standing on the side of the railway line beside the mine. The next picture is the United Hustlers and Redan Mine, west of Comet Hill State School, Sandhurst Road. It shows the mine and its buildings, chimney, ore bins, mullock heap and tramway. The middle picture is the Central Deborah, Violet Street, near Bendigo Creek, Golden Square. It shows the poppet legs, buildings and some machinery behind the large building. The large building has eight ventilators in the roof. The buildings are made of corrugated iron. The bottom left picture is the Deborah Mine, Quarry Hill. The picture shows the poppet legs on the hilltop, the buildings beside it, a square chimney behind the poppet legs and some vegetation and a peppercorn tree in the foreground. The far building also has ventilators in the roof. The picture on the right is underground at 1000 feet level in the Deborah Mine. Pictured are three men with a rock drill.
