Details tram number, date built, for built for, points of interest and present operator. Brown card with two red stripes vertically in the central area of the card, printed up as Australian Civilian Registration (British Subjects) Identity Card for use during the Second World War (WWII). Has form number CR3. Date of printing given in bottom left hand corner as 12.43. Issued to "Denmead Leslie James 133 Glenlyon Rd. Bwick" (Brunswick) in Sept. 1945. Issued at No. 1 P.D. Depot, Ransford. Has two punch holes along the top edge - probably not in at the time of issue. Has signature of holder and witness (E.A Showers) to signature of rear. Christmas card made from white stippled cardboard with a serrated edge, folded centrally with a photo of Rx and R class locomotives on the front of the Adelaide to Melbourne Express at Adelaide Railway Station c1900. The train later became known as The Overland. The first two carriages are Mansard Roofed Carriages. The photo has been printed as an illustration and then glued to the front of the card. On the inside of the card is a Greetings message from the Council and Members of the South Australian Division of the Australian Railway Historical Society. See December 1999 issue of Newsrail for some information about the locomotives and carriages. Year not known, probably late 1960's. Photographic illustration of South Australian Railways Locomotive No. 620, the has been printed onto card and then cut out in the form of outline of the locomotive. Printed in green ink and then over printed in a silver ink to highlight the locomotive. On the rear of the illustration has been printed details of the locomotive (Light Pacific Engine), designed and built at SAR's Islington Workshops. Gives details of the locomotive, SAR's service. Notes that SAR has given 80 years of service. Printed by the Government Printer Adelaide. Reference -"Kings of the Iron Horse" by David Burke, page 164 -5 - gives details of the launch of the locomotive, 'Sir Winston Dugan', then Governor of South Australia. Photo of the launch and locomotive on opposite page 196. Would probably have been made for the launch of locomotive or soon after. Has Bendigo bogie car in background. Also the Beehive building and Ezywalkin shoes. Nucolorvue postcard BE41 on rear and other information in green ink. 963.2 - "Tram No. 25, a maximum traction car built in 1916. Now operated by The Bendigo Trust between Central Deborah Mine and Emu Point." Features No. 25 in Bendigo Trust colours with Coca Cola and Bendigo Timber Co ads on the roof. On nearby pole is a "Bendigo Talking Vintage Tram" signs. In background is the Beehive building and other buildings near Charing Cross. 990.1 -Typed letter from Chairman of M&MTB (Robert (Bob) Risson to Mr. John Grimwade dated 18 April 1963, concerning an letter in the Age written by J. Grimwade about Trams and Motor Cars. Written on M&MTB letterhead, with "Dear John" and author's signature "Bob Risson" handwritten in. Has been folded into four for posting. On quarto size paper, with watermark "Loganvale / Parchment / Made in Britain". Gives M&MTB phone numbers, postal and street address and telegraphic address on letterhead. 990.2 - Typed letter from Chairman of M&MTB (Robert (Bob) Risson to Mr. John Grimwade dated 29 April 1965, concerning tramcar design and deputy chairman (Mr. Kirby) forthcoming overseas trip. Written on M&MTB letterhead, with "Dear John" and author's signature "Bob" handwritten in. Has been folded into six for posting. On quarto size paper, with a watermark "? / RAG ? / Made in Australia". Gives M&MTB phone numbers, postal and street address and telegraphic address on letterhead, different design to 990.1, including phone number. Above the "Dear John" an imprint from of another sheet of paper, has been imposed on the sheet - grease mark? about 15 in diameter. 990.3 - Copy of interoffice memo from Deputy Chairman (Mr. Kirby) on yellow paper, dated 27 April 1965, replying to Chairmans memo of 26 April 1965, about the design of new trams, with steps inside the doorways. Signed by Mr. Kirby. Has been folded for mailing. Has left hand edge partly folded in. 990.4 - Copy of interoffice memo from Chairman (R. Risson) to Deputy Chairman, about a suggestion by Mr. Grimwade about running boards and the width of trams. Notes Chairman's view that the policy of running boards was deliberate in order that cars collided with them first rather than the tram body. On blue paper. Signed by the Chairman. Souvenir Teaspoon featuring Ballarat tram No. 38 in an inset at the top of the tea spoon, contained within a plastic case. The teaspoon made by Perfection Plate, of the Cameo style or type. The case has white plastic base, red and yellow foam base, with clear top, marked "Cameo" and a $3 yellow price sticker stuck to it. On the rear of the case is the wording "Perfection Souvenirs". On the top of the case at the base in white printing "Silver plated / Made in Australia" The teaspoon is silver plated, with the tram in a picture 15mm diameter. The teaspoon is marked "Cameo" on the rear. The silver plating on the rear was not done properly and is the reason why the spoon was not sold by the Museum at the time. Negative No. 239 Two signs on the front panel, top reads "BENDIGO TRAMWAYS 1903-1953", the second a painted picture of a small digging for a gold mine with a miner and windlass, with "1903" and "1953" on either side. Two flags on either side of the panel as well. Copy negative scanned at high res 18/5/2020 and image replaced. Image is an ESCo tram near the intersection of Doveton St. and Sturt St. travelling west along the south side of Sturt. Steet. Photo taken soon after opening of the electric trams. Shows buildings along the north side of Sturt St. and the building at the SE corner of Doveton St. ESCo tram has destination board on the front dash of the tram. Page 3 includes notes on the Provincial systems about bogie cars going to Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. 1303.2 - Vol VI, No. 5, May 1951- printed covers with four pages of duplicated notes - in fair condition - covers have yellowed. 1303.3 - Vol VI, No. 6, June 1951 - as for 1303.2 - in good condition - some foxing on covers. 1303.4 - Vol VI, No. 7, July 1951 - as for 1303.2 - in good condition, though the insert pages have suffered some edge damage as slightly larger in size than the printed covers. 1303.5 - Vol VI, No. 8 - August 1951 - as for 1303.2 - in good condition - includes an article on page 3 about Ballarat news - including relaying of Sturt and Drummond Sts junction, service cuts, fare increase, No. 23, and extension of the depot to accommodate bogie cars. 1303.6 - Vol VI, No. 9 - September 1951 - 8 pages all printed - includes on page 3 - item re Ballarat No. 23 withdrawn for scrapping, and bogie cars at Geelong. In good condition. 1303.7 - Vol VI, No. 12 - December 1951 - 6 printed pages - includes items re bogie cars at Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. In good condition. 1303.8 - Vol VIII, No. 8 - August 1953 - 6 printed pages with green title details - has an item that Wal Jack was recently given a front page write up in the Courier. Shown as being printed by "Traction Press" of the same address as the publisher - Traction Publications.
