Ned Ryan was a local resident and former shearer who became a permanent resident and then green keeper. He was a valued member of the club and was the father of the current green keeper, Hugh Ryan. This event was created in his memory in 2003. The Honour Board was donated by Mr D. W. Rogers (David but always known as Bill) who was a long time summer resident of the town. Certificate awarded to Mr. Charles Wilson Peel from the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria, 1969. The certificate is for Third Prize. Mr Peel owned a superfine merino stud at Gnawarre named Callenondah. Cream coloured stiff paper certificate with dull gold/green borders, black text and grey typed personalised text to C.W. Peel for Merino lambs wool. Heading at top of certificate.

The samples are examples of products made at the Returned Sailors and Soldiers Mill in Geelong but discontinued before 1960. They were used to show shops what materials were available. The samples were given to Mr Robert Anderson, an apprentice fitter and turner at the mill between 1960-1965. His mother, Mrs Lucy Anderson, sewed the samples into quilts in the early 1960s. This is one quilt of three.A quilt made from woven samples of woollen fabric with herringbone and checked designs, mostly in brown, green, blue and red. The samples are machine sewn together. Trophy ribbons won by the Wettenhall's Stanbury Stud. According to Mr Parsons, (19 Mar 2004) the quilt was almost certainly made by Mrs Janet Wettenhall. It was hung in her sun room.Quilt, composed of felt ribbons stitched together and lined with beige woollen fabric. Most of the ribbons are royal blue, there are two purple ribbons and the quile is edged with green ribbons. All the ribbons have been screen printed in yellow ink. Two colour photo of Cato Park ornamental entrance gate that replaced the old entrance gates in c 1930's. The new entrance gates were donated by Mr. Frederick Cato and the park renamed from Victoria Park to Cato Park. The coat of Arms over the entrance gate was donated to Stawell Borough Council in 1926 by Mr. P. Whelan a native of Stawell. Mr. Whelan or better known as "Whelan the wrecker" demolished more than a quarter of central Melbourne buildings so new buildings could be erected on the old sites. The coat of arms came from "Burke & Wills Building" that once stood on the corner of Russell & Collins Street Melbourne. Two colour photographs of Cato Park ornamental entrance gate. Both photos are of similar views with the lake in the background and rotunda behind the gate. The main difference between the two photos is the colour of the rotunda roof, one red the other green. Judging by the increase in tree growth and pathway under the entrance gate the photo with the green rotunda roof must be the more recent photograph. stawell

James Dearing was the head gardener for Benjamin Nathan, who owned Rippon Lea between 1909-1935. Dearing is believed to have worked for the Nathan Family at their previous home in High St., Armadale. He is understood to have left the employment of the Nathan's in about 1914-1915.Decorative prize certificate awarded to Mr James Dearing, head gardener to Benjamin Nathan, by the Royal Horticultural Society of Victoria on the 11th February 1909, for "1 new or rare Plant". Certificate is made of white paper mounted on to cardboard. Decoration and text are very similar to RL 0448- the certificate is a cream coloured cardboard with printed text and decoration in green ink. The decorations consist of: a shield with a lion and a horse on either side, at the top of the certificate; a sheild with a kangaroo and an emu on either side, with advance Australia below, on the bottom of the certificate. On either side of this are two circles, the right circle consists of flowers, the left circle consists of fruit. Made for Chris Neyland by Rene Densham when he was born in 1953 and later given to Running Stitch by Lois Densham who is Chris Neylands aunt. The quilt was made from scraps of woollen fabric from clothing used in the family. It was used in Chris' cot or pram when he was an infant. Lois can remember the dark green fabric coming from a jacket she once wore and the blue tartan pieces from a skirt worn by Rene, her mother. Lois also remembers her mother being "a better piano player than a cook or a sewer" and " made in the tradition of making do from a family who knew how". The family structure is as follows: Rene married Bob Densham and had three daughters: Doreen (Saunders), Betty and Lois Densham. Mr Perkins joined the police force in his early twenties and apart from an 18-month posting in Melbourne, spent the rest of his career serving communities in country Victoria. He was a keen fisherman and hunter- his first love was sitting on the banks of the Murray River with a fishing rod in his hand. Family camping trips were spent by the river where everyone slept on stretchers with several army blankets underneath and a wheat bag wagga on top. The green colour of this wagga is from "Dekkol" a preservative which Mr Perkins used to protect his cotton fishing nets from rotting.Quilt made of two standard size jute wheat bags (a bushel = 150lbs) split and hand bound along seams.It is an example of the basic type of wagga made by shearers, farmers or swagmen. Weaving is the interlacing of two yarns, one at right angles to the other. Yarns that run the length of the fabric are called the warp. Yarns that run across the fabric are called the weft. Most woven fabrics are produced on a loom. The warp yarns are raised to form an opening - the shed. The weft carrier, usually the shuttle, shoots through the shed. Then the warp yarns change position up and down. Finally, the weft is pushed tight against the previous yarns, gradually building up the fabric. Hattersley treadle loom (revolving box hand loom). This item was used as a general purpose cart on the Livermore Orchard in Vermont and was donated by Mr. Livermore when the orchard was sold for housing development.|In the 1840's a vehicle known as a springcart, chaise cart, and family cart was the choice of colonist who needed to travel from town to town.
