Photocopy of an article in the State Electricity Commission of Victoria Magazine, Contact, Vol 1, No. 4, Feb 1937 titled "Electricity Supply and Tramways / Reconditioning the Tramway Systems at Ballarat and Bendigo". Each item had a thin strip of paper attached by staple to the top left hand corner, giving the Vol. No. details. The item gives the background to the takeover from ESCo. Details some of the work undertaken in both Ballarat and Bendigo, including the widening of double track in McCrae St to 10' to allow ex MMTB trams to run. Work at Grenville St - City Loop, the method of track laying in Ballarat - concrete stringers, welded joints, financial arrangements for the work - employment council. Book of 10 All Day Tickets, numbered A000001 to A000010 printed for the Ballarat Tourist Tramway, contained within an off white front heavy paper (front cover) and off white card back cover sheet, with a two staples on the left hand side. Each ticket is from a light yellow card stock, printed with green ink showing the month of issue on the sides and date of issue (1 to 31) on the top or bottom. Each ticket is numbered and has a perforated left edge to enable it to be torn from the book. Ticket punched by the conductor to shown the month and date of issue. On all tickets, just to the under the staple is a vertical heavy green band. Used from late 1975 until March 1986. Item collected for archives on at time of issue. Collected for Archives 30/6/2004. One of a group of signs that were fitted into tramcars in Ballarat, giving instructions to passengers about prams, behaviour, smoking, fare payment, talking to the motorman, instructions or information to drivers etc. Yields information about the sign manufacture, demonstrates the type of signs provided in tramcars.Set of seven enamel signs, black capital letters and lines on white background, titled " No Smoking". One of a number similar signs donated to the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society by the SEC following closure of the Ballarat Tramways system in 1971. Sign has a black enamel backing, with marks from the enamelling process. Seven Number.
