Named to honour the work of John and Elizabeth Gould, 'The Gould League of Bird Lovers' was formed in 1909. It was originally set up to prevent bird egg collecting and to educate for the protection of Australian birds. Gould League members were recruited via schools and received membership certificates and badges. Members were encouraged to enter competitions in bird mimicry, write stories and poems and attend 'bird-day concerts'. This certificate belonged to Kevin Legge. The Gould League has made a significant impact on generations of Australians and their environmental attitudes. Being a Gould league member as a child in primary school gave children the opportunity to belong to a group that was learning about and protecting native bushland and its wildlife. Although not operating some Australian states the Gould League still functions in Victoria.A Gould League of Bird Lovers of Victoria membership certificate for Kevin Legge. In the middle there is also the Bird Lover's Pledge signed by Kevin Legge . Ruth Scott, daughter of Herbert Scott and Bertha (nee Coverdale), married David Legge. Patricia Dawn Legge and Kevin David Legge are Ruth and David's children. Kevin was born in 1958.The pledge has been signed by Kevin Legge.

Boyd writes about his opinion on Le Corbusier's Chandigarh and compares the qualities between the newly built city with Canberra. While Boyd praises Le Corbusier's plan, he also comments on the contrast of the grand buildings (Secretariat, Parliament and High Court) situated among the poverty that is ever present, which ultimately affects the image of Chandigarh. Children used slates to practise writing letters and numbers. They sometimes used their slates to play games when not learning their lessons Early models of small, hand-held chalkboards were slates encased in a wood frame to keep the slate from breaking. Pencil and paper were available but paper was very expensive. This is a novel written by Mary Gaunt (1861-1942). She was an Australian writer who published over 20 novels, many travel books, short stories and magazine articles and achieved an international reputation as an author and intrepid traveller, especially in Africa and China. From 1894 to 1900 she lived in Warrnambool (she was married to Dr H. L. Miller) and continued to write while she was resident in the town, using local places and situations in some of her writings. This is a significant book as it is an original copy of one of Mary Gaunt’s novels. As a resident of Warrnammbool for some time and as a significant Australia author she has her place in Warrnambool’s history. The inscription in the book does not have any known significance. This is a hard cover book of 314 pages. The cover is light brown with black printing on the front cover and spine and an image of a tropical island scene on the front cover. There are a signature in black ink and an inscription in pencil on the first page. The cover is very stained and the spine has a number ‘46’ on white paper glued on. ‘Charles R. This letter refers to the production of long wool and sourcing the fleece and breeding stock of the Lincoln long wool breed. He writes from Lincolnshire and is looking at developing opportunities in Australia and New Zealand. The breed became popular in the latter part of the 19th century and large prices were paid for stock particularly rams. They were bred for wool as well as meat. The breed had declined in popularity in the later part of the 20th century. Lieut. Charles James Callan, (bushman) a former member of the Caledonia Rifle Club, Queenstown, enlisted 2 August 1915 and was killed in action 29 September 1918 near Bony during an attack on the Hindenburg Line. He is buried in Ste Emilie Valley Cemetery, Villers-Faucon, France. First World War letters and postcards from various (unknown) servicemen written to Lily Thompson (Lew Howard's aunty). The Banyule Observer was raised September 2000. Banyule Councillors Colin Brooks and Dale Peters became aware that the ‘local’ news in the Diamond Valley News was being neglected. Together these two councillors asked Rosie Bray to write the local news – which she did until Colin Brooks withdrew. Dale Peters published one more issue – on April 28 2001, before he closed the paper down. Rosie was paid $20 a month to cover costs. 'Hunter' is an Australian spy drama which ran from 4 July 1967 – 5 March 1969 on Nine Network. Lander writes about considerations for making the show commercially successful including publicity tactics. Robin Boyd is mentioned on page 9. Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) Sisters worked from this, their rented Collingwood Centre at 98 Charles Street, Collingwood, which opened in 1977. The Sisters left each morning taking any sterilized equipment needed with them to carry out their nursing visits in a specific area (district), They returned at the end of the day to write up their patients nursing histories, clean and reset any equipment used ready for re-sterilization, and contact other medical and community personal as necessary. From its inception as Melbourne District Nursing Society (MDNS), in 1885, their Trained nurses (Nurses) worked in specific areas, 'districts'. The first Nurse worked east and west, between Victoria Parade and Flinders Street and, north and south, between Spencer Street and Spring Street. When a second Nurse was employed they divided this area at Elizabeth Street so each Nurse could attend to patients in the same area giving continuity of care. Gradually over the years, Melbourne District Nursing Service (MDNS), later known as Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) from 1966 when they received Royal patronage, opened Centres throughout the Melbourne Metropolitan area and outer suburbs with Heidelberg Centre opening in 1971. Their Trained nurses (Sisters) left from these Centres each morning to carry out their nursing visits in a specific area (district), taking any sterilized equipment needed with them. They returned at the end of the day to write up their patients nursing histories, clean and reset any equipment used ready for sterilization, and contact other medical and community personal as necessary. Through its expansion quality of care was not lost, the RDNS nursing staff gave best practice care in many fields of nursing and to people of many cultures with their patients ranging in age from babes, children, adults to the elderly. Some of the care provided was – Post-Natal care, Diabetic Care, Wound Care, Giving of injections and medications, Catheterizations on children and adults, Stoma care, Dementia care, Palliative Care, General care, Rehabilitation, Spinal care, Cystic Fibrosis care, Haemo-Oncology care, Home Enteral Feeding care, and IV therapy at home. Assisting with rehabilitation with an aim towards independence remained at the forefront of the Sister’s minds. All care included giving advice and support to the patient and their Carers. To the right sits a long sash window with dark frame. At either end of the building white concrete face extensions, with embellishments, support a corrugated iron straight veranda roof, with wrought iron embellishment attached to its outer edge. This sits above the window and door and runs along the building protecting the small porch. Above this, along the building, is deep decoration, including a row of concrete balusters and above and central is a concave shell shaped structure. A short dark metal spiked fence runs along the edge of the narrow garden bed. In the foreground the footpath and part of a road can be seen. In approximately 1934 Beryl Jacquier (nee Keenan) was given this pram. The pram was purchased in Melbourne and picked up by Beryl's uncle who brought it by train to Seville Station (in Killara). Beryl's mother, Una Keenan, was the post-mistress who operated the post office from her home which was next to the station.
