Passchendael Barracks was the name of the Army Drill Hall, Mollison St. Bendigo. The Drill Hall was in use from 1916 - approx 2004.This is a mid size rectangular wooden board. In the center is a stylised shield with a R.A.C.T. Badge fixed onto it. Engraved on bottom of shield are the words; "Presented by WO2. Ft. Finnigan - A.R.A. Cadre 1980-1982. At the top of the board is a banner with the words "3MC Unit Soldier of the Year Award" On the board are 18 small shields. Eight are engraved, ten are blank. "My Corps Cavalry: a history of the 13th Australian Light Horse" was written by Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Hunter (Retired) and launched by Deputy Prime Minister Hon Tim Fischer. Tim Fischer served with 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment; Doug Hunter served with 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles. The 13th Light Horse Regiment (AIF) was raised at Broadmeadows Victoria in March 1915. Following service at Gallipoli the regiment was broken up with squadrons going to France as Divisional Cavalry Squadrons of 2nd, 4th and 5th Divisions. Lieutenant Colonel Leslie Cecil Maygar, VC, DSO, VD (27 May 1868 – 1 November 1917) was an Australian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He was awarded the VC for facilitating the rescue of a dismounted man while under severe rifle fire in 1902 during the Second Boer War. He later served at Gallipoli during the First World War, and died of wounds after being strafed during the Battle of Beersheba as part of the Sinai and Palestine campaign. The Maygar Club was the Other Ranks club at firstly Buna Barracks Albury, later at North Bandiana and currently at Latchford Barracks Bonegilla.
