Dvr Young was born in Kyneton. He enlisted in 1917 in the Light Horse Regiment and served in France. These medals were awarded to Pte Fincher 3750, who was born in Malmsbury and enlisted for service overseas on the 3 August, 1915, aged 23 years. He embarked aboard the CERAMIC and served with the 14 Bn in France where he was twice wounded. These WW1 binoculars were made in France. The Jockey Club is a famous gentlemen’s Club still in existence in Paris. These binoculars are believed to have been commandeered by the German army. These binoculars are believed to have possibly been taken from either a German POW or deceased soldier, and brought back to Australia at the end of WW1 as a war-souvenir.Small binoculars silver rim around eye pieces and larger end of lenses.There is a brown leather hand grip on the body of the lenses.
