Military payment certificates, or MPC, was a form of currency used to pay U.S. military personnel in certain foreign countries. It was used in one area or another from a few months after the end of World War II until a few months after the end of U.S. participation in the Vietnam War – from 1946 until 1973. MPC utilized layers of line lithography to create colorful banknotes that could be produced cheaply. Fifteen series of MPCs were created. However, only 13 series were issued. The remaining two were largely destroyed, although some examples remain. Among the 13 released series a total of 94 notes are recognized.The 5 cent note is purple, The 10 cent note is green, the 25 cent note is red and the dollar note is mauve. This manuscript was the brain child of German, Adolf Wilke, Afrika Korp, Prisoner of War. In a cell in Camp 13 he watched smoke from a chimney of the Recreation Hall where his mates were discussing a play. The verses describe various members of the group and their activities. The cartoonist was Count Hans Wolter van Gruenewaldt, a German mining engineer who escaped internment in South Africa, ending as a prisoner in Camp 13. This is a copy of the original. Only 3 copies of the original were made by Gerry von Gruenewaldt - one for Adolf Wilke, one for Gus Pohlig and one for himself. Gerry had a photographed copy made, printed and bound and donated it to the Tatura Museum.Cream coloured card front and back, bound together with a black multi ring binder. Uniform worn by Colonel J A Neale when serving as honorary colonel of 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles. John Neale served with the Royal Australian Navy during World War Two, having enlisted as 16-year-old. His service was on ships off northern Australia and in the South Pacific. Following the war, he enlisted as a trooper in 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles when the regiment was raised, serving in non-commissioned and commissioned ranks finally rising to command the regiment 1969-76. He served as Honorary Colonel 1986-92. Colonel Neale was instrumental in the formation of the Regimental Association and the establishment of the Regimental Museum. Grave of William Poulter (died 13/03/1888) and Mary Chapman Poulter (died 18/09/1899) [date not clear due to damage] in Plot#B8 Greensborough Cemetery. Photographs 2 and 3 shows the replacement headstone erected circa 2012.Greensborough Cemetery was created when land was given for the cemetery by Mr William Poulter, a local settler, about 1864. The cemetery holds the graves of many early settlers in the district. This was the original camp 13 hospital hut which was bought at Auction by Bill & Joyce Baker and Ian & Ethel Stone. Joyce and Ethel were twin sisters.
