The City of Moorabbin Historical Society was formed c 1960 by a group of Moorabbin residents who were concerned that the history of the area should be preserved. A good response to a call for items related to the historical area of Moorabbin Shire brought donations of a wide variety of artefacts which are now preserved by the current members of CMHS at Box Cottage Museum . Helen Stanley, Secretary of CMHS, began producing a Newsletter for members in April 2007 to provide current information and well researched items of historical interest. Helen Stanley has produced a bi-monthly Newsletter, 2007 - 2013, for the members of the City of Moorabbin Historical Society that contains well researched interesting historical items, notification of upcoming events, current advice from Royal Australian Historical Society , Museums Australia Victoria and activities of Local Historical Societies. The Newsletter is an important record of the activities of the CMHS. Tom Sheehy, past President of CMHS, was an Historian and Author of 'Battlers tamed a Sandbelt'.A4 paper printed both sides x1. The President's Medal is a gold-gilded silver medal with an angular shape, with colour enamel Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) armorial bearings on a raised platform. The ANZCA name is inscribed on the top of the medal in an arched design. The medal is attached to a woven maroon ribbon with brass hooks. The reverse has the donor's details and punched hallmarks. The medal is kept in its original green leather-covered presentation box with the maker's mark printed in gold on the inside cover. In 1999 a referendum was held in Australia to determine whether a Republic would be established with the Queen of England and the Australian Governor- General being replaced by a President elected by two thirds of the members of the Australian Government. The Republican referendum failed with 54.8 % of voters being opposed to the Republican model offered. Rev. Ronald W. Allardice (1916-1990) was ordained in 1943 and was President of the Methodist Conference in 1968. After ordination Rev. Allardice went to Samoa, where he was Principal of the Piula Theological College. He was later District Chairman for Goulburn Valley. Robert Uriah Nicholls was born in Devonshire, England, and arrived in Victoria in 1853, and Ballarat in 1854.] He ran R.U. Nicholls &​ Co., nurserymen in Doveton Street North, Ballarat. He was a member of the Ballarat Horticultural Society for 51 years, and was President of the Old Colonists' Association in 1907.
