In the first six years, £1,200,000 worth of gold was obtained. Almost every claim returned a fortune.' Page three title: Other features on Victoria Hill. Printed obituary with black and white photo of Edward Clarence Dyason. He was born in Bendigo in 1886, the son of Isaac Dyason who was the financial and property manager for George Lansell. After World Was 2, he settled in England. He represented Australia at the British Commonwealth Relations Conference in Canada, on the way back to England he died at sea on 3 October 1949. Alexandra Fountain is a fountain in the Australian city of Bendigo, Victoria. It is regarded as one of the city's most prominent landmarks and monuments The fountain is located in Bendigo's Charing Cross area at the intersection of View Street and Pall Mall. Charing Cross effectively stands at the centre of the city and is one of Bendigo's busiest and most prominent intersections. The fountain stands opposite the main entrance of Rosalind Park. Alexandra Fountain was funded from the proceeds of the Bendigo Juvenile Industrial Exhibition (1879), a £500 gift from George Lansell and a further £700 from the Sandhurst City Council (now the City of Greater Bendigo). The fountain was designed by William Vahland (1828–1915), a local architect responsible for some of the city's most prominent buildings. The fountain was named in honour of Alexandra, Princess of Wales. Photocopy of a newspaper article titled Discover Bendigo by James Lerk. Article is titled Lansell Erects Australia's Tallest Poppet Head.George Fauckner was responsible for erecting the tall poppet head at the 222 mine. Eight huge logs were used to make the four legs which morticed together. Blacksmiths made and riveted steel bands around the joints to secure them. Harkness Foundry manufactured the winding plant which was the largest in Bendigo at that time. Their new business premises at the corner of Mitchell and Hargreaves streets are now ready. They make an imposing addition to the architecture of the city. Photograph. Colour photograph of Heather Reeves (nee Pain) standing on the front verandah at home in Golden Square, holding a new staff donated by Sir George Lansell in 1956 at the Memorial Hall at a special presentation gathering. The donation was greatly appreciated. Heather was Pipe Major of the Bendigo Ladies Pipe Band. The band made a guard of honour for Heather Pain's wedding to Neil Reeves at St. Paul's Anglican Church Bendigo in 1957. The band then led the wedding party up the street to Mitchell Street.
