A series of cuttings and photos on ornamental collections of cats. Sources are New Zealand publications, 'The Australian Women's Weekly' and some correspondence from the Globe Sewing Machine Co sent to 'Chance' of Bendigo's 3BO . Are all in a folder with a picture of a cat on the front. Dated 1950 - 1968. In a brown paper envelope there are four black and white photos with a Hill Thomas Auckland advert stamp on the back .One is a lady with 5 ceramic cats and the words 'Love Kenney ( Bushby ) ..The other three are of a variety of ceramic cats in and above a display cabinet .A sign states that the cats were gathered over 40 years by Mrs kenny -some are antiques over 100 years old all are gifts from customers - friends of the Globe Sewing Machine Co , from all over the world …in 1954 the famous cats were incorporated in the Trademark of the company . Letter written on paper with Ancient Order of Forresters Friendly Society printed across the top and on the left the Forresters circular emblem with a deer's head at the top. Around the edge is printed- Unitas Benevolentia et Concordia.('Unity, Benevolence & Concord', sometimes given in Latin as 'Unitas, Benevolentia, Concordia'.) The circle is divided into four with shaking hands in the top left, three deer in the top right, an angle and horn is the bottom left and a quiver and arrows on the right. The Duke and Duchess of York (future King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, later Queen Mother) visited Australia in April/May 1927 for the official opening of Parliament House in Canberra. Before leaving Australia they passed through South Melbourne and Port Melbourne on 11 May 1927 stopping for brief civic receptions outside both town halls. The royal couple stood in their open car during both receptions. This photograph shows the royal couple standing in the car with Port Melbourne citizens and dignitaries in front of the town hall. The tall man to the left of the chauffeur is Syd ANDERSON, Town Clerk, Cr William HOWE, Mayor is to the right of the chauffeur with presumably Mrs HOWE next to him. She qualified as a 'ladies monthly nurse' in 1887 and continued to practise as a nurse and midwife until 1920.She began her six months training at the Melbourne Lying-In Hospital. She was known by many as 'Auntie', and her career spanned more than 50 years. Mrs Howlett's midwifery box and contents were given to Dr Frank Forster, and he donated them to the museum collection in 1993.Black bakelite irrigator, resembling a test tube in shape. Presented to Mrs A.M. Foster (husband a director, may have been major shareholder) on occasion of laying of foundation stone at Maffra Sugarbeet Factory in 1897. Representatives of Frederick Barley, who visited the museum in September 2009 believe they have an identical trowelA silver presentation trowel with handle of unknown white compound, in an oblong case. The case is covered in black leatherette/paper, with green satin lining in the lid and black velvet inner base. Engraved to mark the laying of the foundation stone at the Maffra Sugarbeet Factory in 1897 by Mrs A.M. Foster. Much embellished with hand engraving. Box edged inside with ruched satin around edges."Presented to Mrs A.M.
