The author, Michael Hiscock, is a descendant of Liardet (brother of Penny Blazey, gt gt gt grandaughter). He brought this copy of the Journal to the 1999 'Lee-ar-day' event and donated it to the Society.An account of the life of 'Wilbraham Frederick Evelyn Liardet: Romantic visionary of the Beach 1839-1862" by Michael Hiscock - article in LaTrobe Library Journal vol 13 no 54 pp 4-14. Also contains article on sculptor James Gilbert, and Liardet sketches. Centre fold-out has excellent reproduction of Pier Hotel in its heyday. Hung in the public bar of the Rose and Crown Hotel in Bay Street soon after the 2nd World War until major renovations were carried out in aprrox 1986/7. It was then returned or donated to the Port Melbourne Sub-Branch of the RSL, but due to diminishing membership they soon donated it to the PMCC for safe keeping or display.
