Yields information about the form and style of the early Geelong trams and assistance given to the Red Cross during the first world war.Black and white photograph, printed onto card (inkjet printer?) of Geelong Cross bench tram No. 18 in Corio Tce, now Brougham St outside the wood stores. Tram has the destination of Belmont. Taken after SEC take over with the sides of tram panelled in. Late 1930's. See Reg item 4317 for a different view. Two copies held. Photo appears to be taken soon after opening of the electric trams, as the tramway is well paved compared to the rest of the street which shows vehicle tracks etc. Small horse drawn vehicle crossing in front of the photograph. Shows buildings along the north side of Sturt St. and the building at the SE corner of Doveton St. ESCo tram has destination board on the front dash of the tram.Yields information about the appearance of Sturt St soon after the opening of the electric tram service in Ballarat.Printed colour postcard of an ESCo tram near the intersection of Doveton St. and Sturt St. travelling west along the south side of Sturt Street. Titled "Sturt Street, Ballarat" in the top left-hand corner and overprinted, embossed in gold, with the words "Christmas Greetings". On the rear of the postcard is a letter to Miss Hancock, Pitt St. Rockdale NSW, from a W.H. Nicholls. Message in pencil, address in ink. Postcard made by "WTP" Has a "Victoria One Penny" stamp. Does not appear to have been cancelled. Assumed used in 1905. On the rear of the second copy is a note to Miss Gibbs of Mole Creek Tasmania, dated 22/12/1907, sent from South Melbourne. See Reg. Yields information about Ballarat and Sturt St c1907 following the information of trams.Printed colour postcard of Ballarat electric tram leaving the Grenville St. terminus, at the bottom end of Sturt St terminus with an early motor bus or taxi in front of the tram crossing to the south side of Sturt St. Has buildings on both sides of Sturt St. in photograph, with some other horse drawn vehicles and many pedestrians. Note, none of the buildings have names shown on them - have been printed out. Photo taken soon after opening, no roof mounted destination boxes. On rear are places for correspondences stamp, address and manufacturers' name in a fancy motif "WTP". Photograph taken from Grenville St looking southeast along Sturt St, c1912 Has ESCo tram towing a trailer, ESCo 20 and another two trams in the photograph. Many people are crossing the road. Wal Jack notes - "Original electric and trails, Summer car No. 20 passing bandstand about 1920" - note windscreens have not been fitted to the trams, possibly around 1910.
