The photograph has recorded rail smash which occurred at Sunbury on 17th April 1919 when a stock train crashed into a goods train. It caused a lot of damage to the rolling stock and blocked rail traffic on the Bendigo and Maryborough lines. Sunbury Railway Station was an important centre and stop on the Bendigo- Echuca train line. Many goods were weighed loaded, offloaded stored in the storage sheds for the surrounding districts at this centre. The 'N' Class steam locomotives were built by Victorian Railways to be used on branch lines throughout the state's regional areas. A total of 73 of these locomotives were built between 1925 and 1951. The locomotive in the photograph was steaming into Sunbury. Sunbury Station was an important stop for steam locomotives travelling on the Bendigo line. Photographs of Lewis Lewis and Reg Ansett in various locations with family and friends. 3 photocopies of photographs and 1 real photograph. They all have Lewis Lewis in them as well as others. The real photograph is a black and white photo of Lewis Lewis and his family beside a fence looking over the sea with large sea cliffs behind them (Image 3a). One of the photographs is a copy of this photo (Image 3b). Another photocopy is black and white photo of a different group of people in the same location by the sea (Image 3c). The last photocopy is black and white of a small plane with a group of people beside it (Image 3d). The real photograph has an attachment on the back that says, '1930 - 1940 on tour with Bus owner Booter and Bendigo (Image 3a). His Mother, his grandfather, his wife, Reg Ansett, his Aunty and Lewis Lewis.' In 1853, Bendigo Miners protested against the 30 shilling miners licence the had to pay the government. They wore red ribbons to show their protest and shopkeepers hung red ribbons outside their premises in support. Thousands of miners signed a petition to Governor LaTrobe to no avail. A protest gathering in Pall Mall marched to the Government camp on Camp Hill but this was a peaceful event again to no real avail.Various documents. The topics are: 1.
