This is a photocopy of a book, the original is no longer available. It contains lists of guest speakers at Legacy functions, and the date they spoke and some comments about what they spoke on or how good they were. The dates are from 1926 to the 1980s. Guest speakers include Lord Baden Powell, (founder of the boy scouts movement), Sir Henry Bolte (Premier of Victoria), Sir Edward Dunlop (Burma Railway Fame), Patsy Adam - Smith (Author) to name a few. The list also notes the speakers title, honours/awards/qualifications, subject matter, date. Legatees met regularly and had guest speakers to entertain and inform on different subjects at their Tuesday Luncheons. This document was from a file of information about guest speakers (see also 00812-00822 and 00829-00837). The Programme Committee was responsible for organising the speakers. These coasters depict scenes from Warrnambool – the Botanic Gardens, The Hopkins River mouth and the Wollaston Bridge. All are areas of historical and tourist interest. The coaster were produced to raise funds for Peters Project in Warrnambool, a charity organization dedicated to bringing improved cancer care services to Warrnambool. The organization was founded in 2008 by Vicki Jellie in memory of her husband Peter who died of cancer. The major aim of the organization was realized in 2016 when the South West Regional Cancer Care Centre was opened in a new building in Ryot Street and services to assist cancer patients in Warrnambool continue to be extended. This small pennant flag would have been produced to celebrate the end of World War 2. Elaborate arrangements were made for Ballarat's Victory Day celebrations at Ballarat on Monday, June 10. Morning church services were followed by a patriotic concert by the combined choirs in front of the city hall at 1.30pm as a prelude to an extensive street pageant and march, featuring lavishly staged tableaux of the Allied nations. The Methodist Order of Knights was the official youth organisation of the Methodist Church of Australasia. It originated in Hurstville, NSW, on the 4th October 1914 by the then Mr and later Rev Alex Bray. Alex Bray was a Sunday School teacher and spoke to his class of the Knights of the Round Table. In 1917 the Order of Knights was officially recognised by the Sunday School Dept of the NSW Methodist Conference. Courts spread thoroughout Australia. In 1927 the High Court of NSW called for designs for a badge and in 1929 the General Conference of the Methodist Church of Australasia recognised the Order as an approved Organisation. In 1938 the Senior Section was organised into Degrees of Sincerity, Service and Sacrifice; the Junior Section into Pages' Degree with advancement to Esquire. In 1954 the Junior Section was reorganised into two groups: Pages 8 to 11 years and Esquires 12 to 15 years. The Knight's Motto: "Live Pure, Speak True, Right Wrong, Follow Christ the King, else wherefore born?" Courts of the Order: General Conference Department of the Christian Education - General Court - Provincial High Court - District Court - Local Court - Senior Court - Intermediate Court - Junior Court . Regalia: All members of the Intermediate and Senior Courts wore regalia consisting of a cloth shield superimposed by a cross of light and dark blue ribbons, and supported by a cloth collar. Esquire and Degree of Sincerity regalia: White collar and white shield. Degree of Service regalia: Green collar and shield. Degree of Sacrifice: Scarlet collar and shield.
