Both copies have one penny duty stamps. Provides rules for both tramway and motor bus operations, has index pages 3 to 28, rules for both systems and specific type of vehicle, ticket machines and ticket issuing. At rear is MMTB By-Law 11, dated 1956. Book - green Rexene covers, with title - "Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board - Works Codes and Instructions". Six sections, sewn into covers, dated April 1961, signed by J. J. Fisher, Civil Engineer. 118 pages plus covers. Book numbered "46". Provides an list of contents, giving provisional codes or instructions for works, instructions, about the maintenance and repair of the track welding, safe working, watchmen, care of lamps, and plant. 2nd copy added 5/5/2019 from donation of Barry Brooks ex Bob Prentice Collection. Images revised - jpgs removed and pdf added.Inside front cover has a signature and date of 9/8/61 in ink and inside rear cover "not entered" in pencil. This letter is in response to Robin Boyd's announcement that he will resign from the Melbourne Beefsteak Club. A formal letter from Boyd is requested immediately, so another member can be elected. A copy of Victorian Children's Council Basic Book List and two leaflets were enclosed with this letter - not found in Boyd's papers.On the reverse side, Robin Boyd has drafted a reply to the sender (Frank) in pencil. This explains the reason for Boyd's resignation - competing work and family life pressure on friday evenings, making it impossible to attend monthly dinners consistently.

Report - 54 pages, photocopied from an original, black comb bound with front clear plastic cover and rear mania cover titled "Melbourne Cable Tramways - Details of Construction and Operation of the Power Houses and Track". Compiled by William R. Pollock, MMTB Power House Superintendent. Report not dated, possibly late to mid 1930's. Consists of 12 pages of notes on the power house, cable operation and repairs, the grip and other aspects of operation, along with 26 appendices of drawings of equipment and parts of the cable tram system. Bye-Laws jointly authorised by City of Geelong, Borough of Newtown and Chilwell and Borough of Geelong West, under the provisions of the Tramways Act 1890. Dated 1929.
