‘A’ Squadron 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles conducted a parade at Buna Barracks, Albury on Sunday 1 May 1988 to mark the 103rd Anniversary of the formation of the Victorian Mounted Rifles and the 40th Anniversary of the linking of the 8th (Indi), 13th (Gippsland) and 20th (Victorian Mounted Rifles) Light Horse Regiments to form the 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles. Colonel G K Howard, Director of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps was the Reviewing Officer. The Pipes and Drums of the 5th/6th Battalion Royal Victorian Regiment provided the music for the occasion. This is a set of ten photographs of Lithographic Squadron’s Printing Building at the Army Survey Regiment, Fortuna, Bendigo, c1986. The building was originally George Lansell’s gold crushing battery. When the Army took possession of Fortuna in 1942, it was modified with reinforced concrete floors to house the heavy-duty printing equipment. An additional building was purpose built on the eastern side of the printing building in 1987 to house a new computer-controlled Heidelberg Speedmaster five colour lithographic offset Printing Press. Geoffrey R Fink volunteered for military service in early 1940. He served initially with 3rd Division A.A.S.C. but was discharged as being in a reserved occupation at the Aircraft Production Commission. He resigned from the Commission and joined the AIF on 28 July 1941 and was allotted to 2/8th Armoured Regiment. He served with the regiment in New Guinea and on return to Australia was transferred to No 41 Landing Craft Company serving out the war in the South Pacific. Geoffrey Fink died 14 March 2008 aged 86 at Wangaratta Victoria.This object is a well provenance, in good condition and completeness, and is a fine example of the uniform worn by a soldier who served in the Second World War (1939-45) in an unusual combination of roles, armoured corps and water transport. This document contains detailed photocopies of reports of Army Survey Regiment’s staff manning from December 1975 to August 1976. Each monthly report provided to Directorate of Survey covered the allocation of staff to Regimental Headquarters and its four sub units comprising Headquarters, Air Survey (Topographic), Cartographic and Lithographic Squadrons. Each Squadron’s troop or section structure was represented by a wire diagram with soldiers and/or civilians names assigned to rank based established positions. The parade was followed by a march along Dean Street. This is a photograph of CAPT Jack Cullen (Ret) and an unidentified person besides the front steps of Fortuna Villa, Bendigo, c1978. Jack Cullen served for many years in the Royal Australian Survey Corps from 1920 to 1952, after active service with the AIF in WW1. His service at Fortuna began in 1944 when he was a Lieutenant in charge of a map compilation section. Presented to 1st Battalion, The Royal Western Australia Regiment by Field Marshall HRH The Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh at a parade held at the Western Australian Cricket Association Ground, East Perth on 25 November 1962. The Royal Western Australia Regiment was formed on 1 July 1960 from the amalgamation of all existing infantry battalions in the State at the time :- • 11th/44th Infantry Battalion (The City of Perth Regiment) • 16th Infantry Battalion (The Cameron Highlanders of Western Australia) • 28th Infantry Battalion (The Swan Regiment) At the above presentation of colours to the new battalion, the Colours of the former battalions (four sets of Queen's and Regimental colours) were trooped through the ranks of the battalion and marched off the parade for the last time. These former colours were subsequently laid up in the undercroft at the State War Memorial, King's Park on 29 November 1964. These were transferred to the Army Museum of WA in 1988 as part of the Bicentenary Colours Project. (Refer to Items 4-12 for individual records of these colours) 1st Battalion, The Royal Western Australia Regiment was renumbered 16th Battalion effective from 1st January 1966 as part of a move to reintroduce the old battalion numbers back into the State Regimental system. 16th Battalion, The Royal Western Australia Regiment was presented with a new set of Colours on 27 October 2002. The original 1962 Colours were formally handed over for safe keeping to the Army Museum of Western Australia on 3 November 2002. Battle Honours allocated to the State Infantry Regiments created under the CMF reorganisation in July 1960 were promulgated in Australian Army Order 85/1962. These were a consolidation of the battle honours awarded to the various individual battalions that were amalgamated to form the new regiments. Union flag with gold fringes. Both units were invited to assist their allied regiment, The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, to exercise its Freedom of the City of London with a street march from HM Tower of London to Guildhall to commemorate the regiment's 50th anniversary.

On Saturday 13 May 2000, Victorian Mounted Rifles Squadron, 4th/19th Prince of Wales's Light Horse Regiment departed Buna Barracks Albury and relocated to its new depot at Building 105 North Bandiana. The occasion was marked by a parade through the main streets of Albury and Wodonga. The mayor of Albury, Councillor Les Langford, farewelled the regiment and the mayor of Wodonga, Councillor Graham Crapp, welcomed the regiment to Wodonga. At Building 105, the Area Commander, Colonel Chris Anstey, welcomed the regiment and handed over the building to Lieutenant Colonel Michael Annett, Commanding Officer 4th/19th Prince of Wales's Light Horse. As a senior officer of field rank (Colonel or above) led the funeral procession, it is presumed the unknown deceased soldier was also a highly ranked field officer. The 34th Infantry Brigade was raised in Moratai and consisted of three Infantry Battalions. Namely the 65th / 66th /and 67th Battalions. On the 23rd November 1948 they became the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions. The Royal Australian Regiment became the key component of the new Australian Regular Army. The 34th Battalion 1RAR/ 2 RAR and 3 RAR saw service in WW11 in Korea and Vietnam.Gilded brass hat badge showing a round wattle wreath with "St Edwards" crown over a kangaroo and 2 crossed .303 rifles.Kangaroo and wattle are distinctly Australian - from the TAC signs of the parent units.
