Scrap Book - with printed cardboard covers - titled scrap book on outside and reproductions of newspaper clippings printed onto covers, 64 pages off white paper. Scrap book compiled by Neville Gower from Nov. 1992 to June 1997. Primarily consists of newspaper clippings glued to the pages involving the Ballarat Tramway Museum. Also contained are other items of relevant interest, such as BTM brochures. Pages number in pencil by Warren Doubleday 2/2001. Where relevant some items contained in this book have been separately catalogued to enable easier reference. Some items were already in the collection and are thereby reference with their registered number. Also contains registered items 1659, 1654 and 1655. The last ticket to be issued by the conductor of the last SEC operated tram (see Reg Item 1950 for the 2nd last ticket) in Ballarat. Issued to Ray Hall by Lew Walker and marked on rear as such.Two SEC tickets - 18c and 16c. 18c - ticket standard issue at the time - A407234 - See Reg Item 1724 for full details. SEC 16c ticket - yellow ink on off white paper, denomination 16c, lettered A521545, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. On rear in yellow ink is a SEC advertisement "ELECTRICITY makes life easier" with the SEC's little boy wrapped in a towel logo. The ticket number is in black ink. On rear in black ink are words "Last ticket issued on Ballarat Tramways Sept 19, 1971. By Conductor L. Walker No 54 on last car 40 from Sebastopol to depot." Thirty two pages on gloss white paper plus brown covers, centre stapled, titled ""Panoramic Views , The Garden City, of Ballarat & District" in Gold printing. On rear has name of printers "Berry and Anderson Co Subtitle on page 1, "The Garden City being a series of 40 magnificent Panoramic Views of Ballarat and District, with special descriptive article, "Ballarat Revisited". On page 1, comprises a list of photos and a photo of Sturt St. looking east with an electric tram hauling a trailer. Pages 2 and 3 comprise the article. Most small photos are recycled postcard photos, dating from around the time of horse trams, through to the 1920, featuring the Arch of Victory, A number of photos of buildings such as Orphan Asylum, or Orphanage, Eureka Stockade, Lake Wendouree, Gardens, Ballarat and District Hospital, The Gardens and Reservoirs or Lakes. Many of the street scenes in Sturt St, feature tram in the City area - see the 11 image files including some close detail scans or horse trams turning from Sturt St to Lydiard St while one horse tram is coming up the hill on the same side of Sturt St. Features both electric and some horse trams. ESCo Employee Hours Work Record book that has been used by an ESCo/SEC inspector, H. P. James as a record / note book for his personal collection or papers or journal titled "Out of the Past". Book sewn with string in 36 page sections, blank end papers, board covers with stipple paper out sides and Rexene cloth binding. Comprising plain paper end papers and 104 printed pages (52 leaves), with each sheet printed in black on feint ruled paper for recording the hours worked and other details of drivers and conductors employed by ESCo. Printed for daily use, with Day and date page headings - made out for the 1930's. Images: Book - i1 Inside front cover - i2 Members Certificate - i3 Has been used to gather mementos such as photos, articles, newspaper clippings, letters and other miscellaneous documents on Ballarat local history. Newspaper cuttings etc often have side notes written by Mr. James. Inside front cover has certificate recording Mr. James membership to the Ballarat Historical Society for 1940. Two copies of a cut sheet of paper headed "Ballaarat Tramway Preservation Society" with a list of tramcars applied for by the Society on 8 July 1971. Lists Scrubber, 11, 14, 27, 28, 31, 32, 33, 34, 38 and 40. Also has notes on the Bendigo Birney cars. One copy has date on it in red biro of "17/7/71'. The sheet appears to have been type set by a printer - style of typeface. Twenty Seven page printed document on foolscap paper to be used as the form basis for authorising a local government council to supply power within a given area. Document has spaces for the various signatures, seals, schedules and Order No. Order was granted by the Governor in Council under the electric light and power ACT of 1928. Has definitions, including railways and tramways. Schedule three allows for details of tramways and railways. Has space for the Minister in charge of Electrical Undertakings to sign the order. Has form number of 10679/40 in bottom left hand corner - therefore it has been assumed that form is printed in 1940. Stapled in the top left hand corner.
