Red cloth covered bound book, 116 pages, plus printed end sheets used in covers, titled "MMTB Electric Tramways and Motor Omnibuses Sections and Fares", dated August 1971. Book consists of four sections, bound with sewn cloth binding on the outside with glued white paper end covers. Details the various section stages and fares for each tram and bus route, General instructions, concession fares and has photos or drawings of the various special tickets, eg passes or prepaid tickets. Second copy added 14-12-15 from Donation of Norm Cross - 11-10-2009.Pages 103 - 105 have been hand amended - re Limbless and Disabled Soldiers. Checked 24/1/2019 - the card has a negative balance of $12.10. Has been purchased for the minimum amount, then used on a regional service and left with a negative balance when touching off. .2 - 0637 4 - as above. .3 - Green or first type of card, marked C for concession, number ending 4500 6. Black and white negative by Wal Jack of U206 and a C Class or N class stored at Preston Workshops. Based on image the number of the second car is number 125. Note the two cable grip cars and the bus body in the background. Rod Atkins advised 11/10/2020: "The bus body is one of the four James Motors of South Melbourne body's first fitted to the group of 12 Thornycroft "J" chassis in 1924-1925 numbered 13 to 24. Then in 1929 they were all transferred to the ADC chassis but four were retained in late thirties to early forties for possible further use. The four bodies were then fitted to the new International K6 chassis in 1943. The vehicle numbers were 19 to 308 16 to 309 24 to 311 and 18 to 312. They were finally disposed of in 1949." Papers - Havilah Cemetery, Havilah Cemetery Formerly Running Creek Cemetery
In 1889, 24 residents of the Running Creek and surrounding district submitted a petition to the Minister of Lands, Melbourne requesting land for a cemetery. Their request was granted. The Cemetery was decommissioned in the early 1950s and the last trustee for the cemetery died in 1986. There is a wooden fence around the boundary (May 2024). One paper lists 29 names in the Burial Register 1861-1948. The last two sheets record the history as a timeline from the 1850s to the 1900s. Havilah was a gold mining settlement from the 1850s located 20km west of the Kiewa Valley and in the Ovens catchment near Myrtleford.Five black and white A4 pages stapled together. Northern District School of Nursing commenced in 1950. During the early years of the School, student nurse wore a simnple blue dress with white shank buttons. This uniform was worn from School 1 (22/3/1950) thought to School 7 (24/4/1951). Photograph, View From Ernest Road To Site Of "Kia-Ora"
John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the area working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas. The photograph taken c1973 from Ernest Road looks over the site of the Kia-Ora guesthouse which is marked by the oalm tree that can be seen at the front of the flat roof close to the gum tree trunk. Situated on Barber’s Road, ‘Kia-Ora’ was built in 1912 by George Barber. It was later leased by a Mrs Pemberthy. “Kia-Ora’ was one of four places connected when the telephone was brought into the district in 1912. The other places were ‘Mountjoy’, ‘Cherry Farm’ and ‘Callum House’. ‘Kia-Ora’ was burnt down in 1924.Black and white photograph showing a house with water tank in right foreground and another flat roof centre foreground. Battery powered invalid tricycle. Black body-work, wire spoked wheels, 2 small headlights. Appears to be built to accommodate a reclining figure. Contains 2 crimson corduroy cushions, one solid seat cushion filled with Dunlopillo, the other a rectangular back-rest cushion filled with latex foam rubber. Original seat cushion had sage green top with blue/white striped mattress ticking sides & back. Original back support cushion had a cloth label - see below. On an aluminium plate on top of the electric motor :- "Chassis No. 2067, Type EC2, 24-36 volts / RPM 2700 Serial No. 2161".
