Tram 28 has destination of Mt Pleasant, coming from Drummond St. south, and carrying "Trotting Bray Raceway Thursday" auxiliary sign board on front of tram. Tram 32 has been decorated for Myers as a Santa or Christmas tram, and is outbound to Gardens via Sturt. St. Pole sign by Holden car has a Olympic rings sign on it, indicating location of Lake Wendouree and once was a tram stop sign. Taken on 23-12-1967. High Res Images added 5/3/2011. ... Trams ...Black and white negative from Wal Jack collection of W 259 or W2 during track reconstruction work on its way to North Coburg. The tram has not been fitted with a route number box. A number of workmen in the view "leaning on their shovels" as the tram goes past. Photo could be between Moreland Road and Bell St or in Lygon St before the end of the cable trams in Sydney Road Coburg. OR - in Moreland Road itself, having just left Nicholson St - note heavy wires at the rear of the tram. Photo can be dated from the date a route number box was fitted. Tram was converted to a W2 in Oct. 1931. Photo c1930. Many people and a number of horse drawn vehicles in the photograph. Photo taken soon after opening it would appear, as a destination box on the electric tram is not visible. ... trams ...The photo shows Geelong No. 2 in Moorabool St at the intersection with Ryrie St. The tram has the destination of North. The tram is in its modified form that provides for one-man operation. In the photo are Edments, Savoia Cafe, Commercial Bank of Australia, and the T&G building. The photo has been dated between 1935 when the tram was converted and 1939 when the bar neon traffic lights were installed at the intersection. The photograph was taken from a Victorian Railways glass negative held at the State Library of Victoria. The conductor on the rear of No. 2 is holding the trolley rope, while the driver of No. 20 is watching the road closely. The conductor of the tram is reboarding or about to alight. No. 20 has the destination of Gardens via Convent. Other trams are in the background. Wal has dated the photograph about 1909. Note the point frog or pan in the overhead above No. 20 and in particular notes the type of destination box and that the tram is going to the Gardens via the Convent.
