The photograph of the 30 pupils with their teacher was taken in 1968 at the Bulla S.S. No. 46. after they came first in the Greenvale and District School Sports Association. Other schools competing were Greenvale, Mickleham, Craigieburn, Broadmeadows Yuroke and Tullamarine. In 1968 all these schools were rural schools.When this photograph was taken, Bulla State School was classed as a one-teacher rural school with 30 students in the one room.A non-digital black and white photograph, with a cream border, of 30 students with their teacher. John Gibson was a tea merchant in Warrnambool in the 1930's and later went on to run a clothing business in Fairy Street Warrnambool which also involved travelling to areas outside of Warrnambool and district farms with a range of clothing. His wife Mary was associated with the Nella Maris cafe in Liebig St where John Gibson was seriously wounded in a stabbing attack. He and his wife Mary were killed in a road accident in May 1965. It was not uncommon for items such as tea and other basic commodities to be purchased in large amounts. Florence Tatham Mellblom (nee Henry) was a painter, naturalist and photographer. She was born at Portland, Victoria, and studied art in Ballarat. She was a talented etcher from childhood, and joined the Portland Camera club. She also produced many watercolour paintings of the historic places of Portland. She was married (1932) to Karl Enoch Mellblom.Image of a bluestone building to the back of the painting. Next to it is a smaller reddish building.
