Mr Herbert Keck began planting his orchard c. 1886 and by 1902 had 33 acres under orchard and nursery stock. His endeavour was seen as a model orchard producing abundant crops. Herbert Keck was at one time, president of the Strathfieldsaye Shire and a MLC for Victoria.
