White cardboard mount, 35mm slide, from the Association of Railway Enthusiast's film strip titled "Provincial Tramway Film Strip" of Ballarat Trams bogie No. 35 and four single truck cars in the storage loop, or City Loop at the east end of Sturt St. No. 35 has a "Bray Raceway Trotting Friday Night" on the front of the tram. The film strip notes (Reg. Item 2560), provided the following caption details: "At the east end of Sturt St., about 200 yards from "CITY" was "CITY LOOP" - a storage facility used to hold cars for peak loadings and emergency use. -Nov. Yields information about the instructions that Ballarat Tramways traffic inspectors received in carrying out their duties and how to monitor the work of the tram crews etc.Twenty duplicated quarto pages or folios titled "General Instructions - Tramway Traffic Inspectors", bound within a manila folder. Dated March 1951 and has Manual No. 1 on each sheet. On bottom edge has "GOS6-55", indicating that it may have been printed in June 1955. Two steel clips used to bind sheets into folder. Details the TIM system, benefits, uses, sample tickets, components, examples of use, TIM "Major" for long distance routes, use for admission tickets, packing slips, cash receipts etc along with sample tickets, costs, cancellation punch and servicing. On the rear has a list of British Transport undertakings using the system and other users. Printed in Australia, c1950; appears to be an Australian version of the English document. Yields information about the method that the State Electricity Commission of Vic undertook interviews for staff appointments. Gave advice of the era for such interviews and objectives of the interview.Thirty page book printed on heavy light brown paper, stapled with an folded card cover titled "The Automaticket Bell Punch System of Fare Collection and Control". Describes the Automaticket system, has samples of traffic tickets pasted in the book, diagrams, drawings, gives details of the components and method of operation in particular ticket inspection, ticket and checking back office functions. Published by the Bell Punch Company of London early to mid 1930's? Cover and each page headed "Confidential Information for Executives". Has a photo of South Western Roadlines double deck bus with a conductor. See also Reg. Item 3629 for another version of the pamphlet for this machine. In the rear cover of the book, folded and stapled to give a pocket, are listed three forms that would have been provided with the book - not with the collected copy. -However in the pocket were eleven 11 "Ticket Issue Machine" or "TIM" tickets - eg City of South Melbourne library fine, packing slips, sample meal tickets, Army canteen beer tickets, and sample bus tickets - including one pinned to a business card - John Bolland of Eastern Suburbs Omnibus Service who were the agents for the TIM machines. As well at the time of acquisition were a SEC Special Pass - to Reg Item 3648 and a SEC Staff Pass ticket - to Reg item 3649. Demonstrates aspects of the SEC ticketing, governance and monitoring systems. The Pass could be issued to a person on the signature of the Manager for a specific reason. Style remained very similar to the end of the tramways.Light brown card (200 gsm) ticket with, printed in black ink - titled "Special Pass". Has number "099" stamped on. Form number "TYE 2-22" in top left hand corner. Has space for the name of the Bearer (issued to Mr. ...), Branch to be written, space for manager to sign with date .../.../193.... and expiry date of pass." and "3820" in bottom left hand corner. Conditions of use printed on rear. See also 69 for a later example of this type of pass. Ticket good for single trip only, of use by employees when travelling on Commission's business. Form No. TYE-2-19. Not known when printed, possibly 1960's maybe earlier. Yields information about industrial issues in Geelong over one man trams and rosters, and that Ballarat was keep advised of the situation.Set of three (two copies of each), newspaper clippings from the Geelong Advertiser, 27/10/1952 cut out and pasted onto blue paper, with the Newspaper Name and date type on each piece. News items were: "One Man Trams" - quoting Mr. T. A. Farr, Manager SEC Geelong re the proposed introduction of one-man trams. alterations to through routing and effects of this. "Tram-men's Protest" - resolution passed against proposed new roster, one-man trams, quotes union Secretary Mr. C. McDonald, and details of the resolution. "Road Operators' Meeting", about a proposed meeting of road operators to form a Geelong Sub-branch of the Road Transport Development Association of Victoria on 28 October.
