On November 25, 2005 the Kodak Carols by Candlelight launch was held in the browsing library at Kooyong with a large number of staff and guests in attendance. Speeches were made by Gerard Menses, Graeme Innes, Greg McKibbin, Marjorie West and Marina Prior. The crowd got to open Christmas crackers and hear some songs from Marina Prior before a cake was cut and shared. Afterwards everyone headed outside for the burying of the time capsule by Jarryd Clifford and Reuben Ryan, in the garden outside the cafe. The envelope is opened and joined only by the bottom and left-hand bottom corner. There are two tears and folds at the top of the envelope. The letter written in Italian is on one page and has been folded in half. It is dated 21 November 1912. The English translation of the letter is on two pages, which has been folded in half and then in thirds. The translation indicates the subjects of the letter is the snow in the mountains, military service, catching bears in the mountains and mentions other relatives.letter, italy

Wait outside for your order. Thx for your patience.” 027/039 is a shop with a corrugated iron roof, closed off with tape. 027/40 and 027/41 both feature close-ups of railway tracks, with the latter showing weeds sprouting from rails.

In 2007, Vision Australia sold it's iconic 557-563 St Kilda Road site. The historic bluestone building was in need of renovation and repair, had limited space for staff and clients and with more demand for services in suburban and regional areas, did not meet the needs of the national organisation. The purchaser was mainly interested in the Ormond Hall section, which they sub-divided off and sold to the tenant of the Belgian Beer Cafe. The remainder of the site was then sold on to another developer. Unable to quickly proceed with their plans on developing the site for residential buildings, the site fell into some disrepair in the interim which was when these images were taken. \When the railway reached Wodonga from Melbourne on 19th November 1873 the first station building, which included a refreshment room and dining room, was a temporary structure. It was 300 ft. long and was removed and taken to Beechworth when the new station was built in 1874 by contractor J. Richardson. The Goods shed was 100 feet long and was built by Frew & Hill in 1873. One year later it was extended an additional 150 feet by James Nation. The date of the construction of the Locomotive shed is not known but predates 1883. It was a galvanised iron clad building which housed 4 engines on 2 tracks; in 1910 it was extended to 250 feet in length to house six more engines. The location of the railway tracks and station were a constant cause of congestion in the centre of Wodonga as the tracks crossed over Sydney Road (later named High Street). Lines of traffic were frequently banked up as the gates were closed to allow trains to cross. The Wodonga Rail Bypass project moved Wodonga station from the original central location to a position on a new line on the northern edge of the town. Not only did this release land in the middle of the city for commercial and public use, but also eliminated 10 level crossings. The project actually commenced in 2008 with the last passenger train passing through Wodonga on 8 November 2008. On 23 July 2010, the new rail bypass was opened, the original line through Wodonga closed and the station fell quiet. The area has now been redeveloped as Junction Place and the old buildings now house a restaurant, cafe and the Goods Shed Craft Beer Cafe.These images are of local, state and national significance as the Wodonga Railway complex formed a vital link in the Victorian state, interstate and national railway system.A collection of colour photos of the buildings at the former Wodonga Railway Stationwodonga railways, railway station wodonga, junction place wodonga

This tin contained bulk tea which came from the Melbourne Mutual Store. Established in 1872 as a profit-sharing co-operative of shareholders and staff, Mutual Store Ltd was situated at the corner of Flinders and Degraves Street, Melbourne. Fire destroyed the building in 1891 and the new building erected is an important heritage building today. In 1961 Peter Kaye Consolidated Ltd bought the business and it then traded as Mutual Store Holdings Ltd. In 1964 Cleckheaton (from England) took over the business and closed the store in 1965. Tea tins such as this one would have been distributed by the Mutual Store to smaller businesses such as cafes or repackaged for sale at grocery shops etc. Bulk tea can still be bought but the main tea sales are now in the form of tea-bags. This tin is retained as a memento of the days in the 19th and early to mid 20th centuries when tea was sold only in bulk and provided in tins such as this by the importers to small grocery shops and the like. This is a tea tin, cylindrical in shape. It has a tight-fitting lid with a metal clip. There is blue and cream painting around the sides of the tin with images of Greek figures and a wreath with a ribbon. The tin is much scratched and rusted. Situated originally on the corner of the Dalton Street road reserve west of Main Road (now present-day Wingrove Park Trail), the former Jarrold Cottage (White Cloud) was purchased by Lena Skipper following Thekla Jarrold's death in 1943. It was built by William Jarrold in the early 1850s and was here that he married Hannah Coleman in 1856. The Bootmaker's shop was built by Thekla Jarrold in 1930 for use by her friend, John Clark, a local photographer who had boarded with the Jarrold family since about 1910. In 1930 he changed profession to a bootmaker and leather worker. The photograph is taken at Five Ways intersection at Kalorama in the late 1920s. The cars appear to be parked on Old Coach Road with the FiveWays Cafe and the back of the Methodist Church in the background. The photograph is from the album of Ivy Child. Ivy May Child (1910 – 1989) was the daughter of Arthur Edward (Ted) Child (1878 – 1964) and Ethel May Madden (1888 – 1970). Ted Child was the son of Matthew Francis Child (1839 – 1933) and Martha Jeeves (1857 – 1926). He was the grandson of one of the early pioneers Francis Child. Ivy grew up on the family property on Childs Road and took many photographs. Most of these are glued into her photo album. The album covered the years from c1927 – 1932. Ivy married Henry William Burgess (1906 – 1968) in 1944. The photographs remain in their original state in the album with individual copies made.
