Warrnambool Bowls’ club was established in 1890. The club was initially established in Liebig St and was the sole club in Warrnambool before the establishment of St. John’s Bowls club in 1926. Warrnambool City Memorial Bowling club was established in 1950 with Lawn tennis and Dennington following in the 1960’s.It was around 1990 that the club moved from Liebig St to Timor St on the site of the St Joseph’s tennis courts. This book was produced as part of the centenary celebrations in 2006. In 2006 Orbost Golf Club celebrated its’ Centenary having originally been formed as the Snowy River Golf Club and played on private land near the banks of the Snowy River just to the south of town. In the 1930’s the Golf Club relocated to its present site and was renamed Orbost Golf Club. The land was shared by the Show grounds and Racing Club. Orbost Golf Club later acquired the land outright to provide a permanent home for golfers in Orbost and surrounding district.This is a local history book.A 38 pp spiral bound book titled Orbost Golf Club Centenary Booklet 1906-2006 Centenary Celebrations 9/12 2006. No information has been found on the Allansford Youth Club but the badge appears to date from the 1940's or 50's. A Warrnambool boy's club existed during that time. This is a plaque given to the Quota Club of Warrnambool in 1983 when it was a finalist in an award given by the Victorian Council of Community Service Clubs. Quota Clubs were established to promote gender equality, to empower women and to assist people with physical and mental disabilities. The Warrnambool Quota Club was active in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s but no longer exists. Sports Clubs in Kew in the final decades of the 19th century and in the early 20th century were often umbrella organisations with facilities for a number of sports. Typically in Kew, this included teams in lawn bowls, tennis and croquet. The Kew Bowling Club was formed in 1880 while the privately owned Auburn Heights Recreation Club was opened in 1904. By 1998, the two Clubs decided to amalgamate at the Auburn Heights site in Barkers Road, forming the Kew Heights Sports Club. The combined club was itself taken over by the Melbourne Cricket Club in 2012 becoming MCC Kew Sports Club. In 2017 MCC Kew closed and its landholding was subsequently sold to Carey Baptist Grammar School. Both the Kew and Auburn Heights Clubs assembled important collections. These historically significant and large collections were donated to the Society in 2020.
