Robert Parry (1824-?) came to Melbourne from Wales in 1850, marrying Margaret Brett, a fellow passenger. He worked for James Donaldson at Kangaroo Ground, returning after success at gold mining. He began as a carter and settled near Healesville. This photocopy was donated by Lloyd, who flew Wirraway A20-10 several times during his career. Wirraway A20-10 is currently part of the Moorabbin Air Museum's collection. Lloyd flew A20-10 while training at Uranquinty, NSW, as part of No. 8 Pilots Course, in 1952. Later, Lloyd flew A20-10 while attached to Base Squadron, Point Cook, Victoria in 1955 and as a Flying Instructor at No. 1 AFTS and the RAAF College between 1956-1958.

British army officer Major Charles Newman was an early settler on the Yarra River at Templestowe after serving in India in the East India Company. Later be married and moved to Tasmania, farming at Black Brush near Pontville. In 1835 he came to the Port Phillip District and explored the Yarra River, returning with his family. David Crockett and Hazel Poulter researched, respectively, Charles Newman and the Templestowe area, identifying the Newman house, Pontville, on the Yarra banks.
