The photo shows three trams at Hospital Corner, during the mid to late1950s. Tram 35 turns from Drummond Street South on its way to Lydiard St North. Another bogie tram is turning into Drummond St South while No. 25 waits at the tram stop. A conductor can be seen walking forward with a point bar. In the background is the sign for Rimmiington Bros Butchers and the Southern Cross Hotel. Date thought to be 12/12/1958. Tram has destination of City. Can see the Bucks Head Hotel in the background and the full length of Bridge St., with Victoria St. hill as well. W. Gribble & Co. building on the right hand side of the photograph. Although folder dated 23/2/62, the photo is taken before 12/1960, as tram has not been fitted with dash canopy lights, so date taken as for photograph BA1, Reg. No. 2381 - note angle of shadow. hi res scan made and image updated 23/5/2020. Photo 1 - 260mm long x 122mm high, photo of north east Ballarat from Town Hall, looking out to Black Hill. Photo similar to Reg. No. 102, but buildings on corner of Grenville and Bridge St has a Plume sign instead of a Mobilgas Ad. This indicates early to mid 1950's. One tram in loop in one in Bridge St. Also has a "Neptune" sign in photograph. Photo 2 - 195mm long x 75mm high - from north east corner of Sturt and Lydiard Sts looking towards Town Hall and Craig's Hotel. Photo includes SEC bogie at tram stop and the front end of bus travelling east in Sturt St. Photo 3 - 230mm long x 156mm high - colour printed photo of Pall Mall, Bendigo from west side (by Post Office), looking towards the Shamrock Hotel. Condition of the road surface very rough - can't see the rails. Photo taken in early days, as no modesty boards on upper deck - say 1887. Possibly a trial trip.
