Letter begins 'Hello Al' and ends 'Your pal Arthur.' Blue envelope (0390.b) is post-marked Durban, dated 15 September 1948 and bears one blue and one red South African stamp. 0390.b has been re-addressed from Rector Street, New York to South Street, New York. The back of the envelope is stamped with three circular (one large and two small) New York post-marks and two horizontal Church Street Station marks.Date style:15.IX.48quinn, s s morgenster, 1948

Enclosed is a type-written letter on a single sheet of matching buff-coloured, lined paper (0373.c) also from Durban dated 27/03/48.0373a commences "Hullo Allan, ....." and concerns a debt owed to Allan by the writer. He also mentions the forthcoming Royal visit to Australia. It concludes with "....Happy Sailings, Wynn." 0373b is torn where the stamps would have been and what remains of the type-written address is "Utility Man ALLA., s.s. "Morgenster", c/o South African Marine Corporation Ltd. Pier 51, North River, NEW YORK CITY, U.S.A." There is a blue 'Par Avion' stuck diagonally across the lower left corner. 0373c is a type-written copy of a letter to Mr E. W. Quinn Collection Three sheets of cream-coloured, lined paper (0800a1-3). Each sheet is written on one side only. Letter dated 1.01.1949 and headed Willoughby. Quinn CollectionTwo page letter written on two sheets of buff coloured paper (0833.a1-0833.a2) headed New York and dated 1/12/49. Pale blue envelope (0833.b) is edged with alternating red and blue stripes. Letter commences 'Dear Friend!' and concludes '..So Long! Your friend Peer...'. The envelope has been re-addressed from C/- Scandinavian Shipping Office, Transport Building, Embarcadero at Mission Street, San Francisco to M/S Mongabarra, Gen. S.S .Corp. Letter commences "My Dear Old Pal,.." and concludes "...all the very best, Frank". He mentions the cost of living; Royal Doulton crockery set nineteen pounds, bedroom suite and lounge one hundred and ninety-five pounds, rent for a house " a modern place situated in a very nice area" three guineas a week. Also that the choice at the moment "... is 'Pig Iron Bob' or 'Old Man Chifley'..".Quinn CollectionA four-page letter written on four sheets of lined, buff coloured paper (0867.a1-4) headed Mr O F Mauhews, 101 Whatley Crescent, Bayswater, Western Australia and dated 20/04/51. The matching envelope (0867.b) is addressed to Mr Allan Quinn, C/- General Delivery, G.P.O. Oslo, Norway. The stamps, most of the post-mark and the last letter of 'Quinn' have been torn off. On the back of the envelope is an Oslo post-mark dated '2-5.51'. The writer states that he is staying with his parents in Holland and that, ".....Holland is good again like before the war." The overall colour of the letter is pale green. There is a fine blue pattern on the outside except for part of the middle section where the address, return address and a printed notice are displayed. There is a brown paper sticker with the printed words 'Firma C. K. Hansen, Kopenhamn K. Denmark' partly obscuring the address.
