Used by the MMTB in an attempt to keep tram tracks clear of motor cars. It seldom worked. Signs would have been fixed to the ends of a tram so it could be seen by motorists. Only known photograph of this type of tramcar.Stereo pair of photos, black and white, of a 7 window horse tram in Wendouree Parade, possibly near Windmill Drive, Nth end, mounted on heavy card. Photographed and published by Geo Rose. Has many lady passengers on the top deck of the tramcar. Tram has the destination of "Boatsheds". Possibly around 1900. Diecast and painted N gauge model of a Melbourne W6 or SW6 tram, made in China for Cooee Concepts. Painted in MMTB Colours with a Yarra Trams logo. The individual wheels rotate. On the original blister packaging, described as "W6 tram c1955"Demonstrates the work of the model maker.Diecast painted model of a W6 or SW6 tram - numbered 964 on the ends of the trams, with a Yarra Trams logo. Numbered 1955 on the underside. At one end of the object, - tow bar point on the bumper bar is a small extension to allow for the fitting of a key ring. Taken from St Paul's Cathedral steps. Has a small part of the Princes Bridge Station building on the left hand side. The Swanston St canopy of Flinders St station has the words "Cross Crossings Cautiously". A W class tram is northbound while an S or T class tram is southbound while another single trucker is west bound to Spencer St in Flinders St. The trams in the photo were used prior to 1944. All W class trams were converted to W2 class prior to 1944 and the single trucker westbound had been scrapped by then.
