A number of workmen in the view "leaning on their shovels" as the tram goes past. Black and white photograph of CW5 684, route 70 outbound in Batman Ave. Ray Pearson's photo listing dates the photo as 1937. The CW5 tramcar was effectively a W5 tram using Brill 22E bogies or trucks as an economy measure during the mid-1930s. The trams were underpowered, with MMTB No. 15 bogies being fitted in 1956.
