Some of the earliest regular attendees at Brown Hill Methodist Chapel (tent) were Mr and Mrs J.I. Kelly, Daniel Kelly, Mrs Heywood (formerly Kelly), Mrs Powell, Mr and Mrs Robert Allan, Mr and Mrs Fitzsimons.Copy of a black and white photograph of the Brown Hill Methodist Church, later the Brown Hill Uniting Church. A weatherboard church was built c1857 at a cost of 400 pounds. Itg also served as a school house. The brick church was built in 1969 at the cost of 714 pounds. Joseph Edward Teague (1859 -1925) Son of John and Annie Ellison, Joseph was born at Heathcote. Joined the police force in 1890 and had the number 4324. He served at several stations including Elmore and Strathfieldsaye. During his career he received several commendations for arrests and convictions. He left the Police Force in 1912 and died 112/11/1925. He is buried at Fawkner cemetery Two documents. The Junction Hotel was built before 1875. It was located on the corner of the Yarra Glen-Eltham and Steels Creek Roads opposite the cemetery. The building was burnt down in August 1935. Urquhart Street Primary School was opened on 09 December 1878 by the Minister of Public Instruction, Major William Collard Smith.
