38 Bn was raised 1 Mar 1916 in Bendigo during WW1. it was initially about 500 men.This photo album has a light gray surface resembling animal fur. The word photographs is embossed in gold on the front. It is bound with a cord (broken) thru 2 holes. Under each photo is a tag showing deceased soldier's name. The album has about 20 pages. It shows items issued by camp QM to 17th A.A.S.C. Bendigo Camp, they being 4 jackets dungaree, 4 trousers dungaree. 2. Army Form F21 Complete. This is undated. They are still using .303 rifle: Dated 1970- 1962 original.This is a two sided copy of an original 38 Bn camp document. This copy is a yellow colour with black ink. This copy shows layout of tent, equipment and webbing. the drawing shows 8 men to a tent. Of interest is that item one a paillasse. The original had a light red stain in centre. This letter was written from Salisbury Plains, UK on 30 October 1916. It mentions the conscription vote. He has also passed his course for dealing with poison gas. He has been promoted to CPL.
