Black and white photograph of VR tramcar 42 at Elwood Depot in St Kilda St. VR tramcar 42 built at VR Newport Workshops as one of 4 air brake equipped bogie drop centre trams (40-43) and entered service at Elwood Depot in 1923. Operated by VR on the St Kilda to Brighton broad-gauge line until it was scrapped in 1957. Tramcar 42 operated the last service on the Brighton Beach to Park Street Middle Brighton, on 1 January 1956. Tram has the destination of St Kilda Station. Black and white photograph of tramcar 76 at Batman Avenue terminus in 1925. The tram is a single-truck California combination tram, one of 20 built for the P&MTT in 1915. The photo was taken at Batman Avenue in 1925 and shows a driver or conductor adjusting the trolley pole. The photo shows the Batman Ave terminus and Flinders St station in the background. Tram 76 was built in 1915 by the Meadow Manufacturing Co in Sydney for the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust before transferring to the MMTB in 1920. The J-class tram was bought by the SECV in 1931 and moved to Ballarat as tram No. 19. It operated in Ballarat until it was transferred to Bendigo in 1960 as tram No. 7, operating as public transport until 1972. It is now in operating condition at the Tramway Museum Society of Victoria in Bendigo. Set of two black and white photographs of tramcar 815 in Collins St at Spencer St. Tram 815 was one of 24 W5 class trams built by MMTB at Preston Workshops in 1937. Entered service Saturday 13 November 1937. In April 1984 converted to SW5. Currently stored at Newport Workshops. Was relocated to the site of the former Glenhuntly Post Office in Glenhuntly Road Feb. 2020. Photo shows tram at corner with Specer St station parcels building and VR building in background. Black and white photograph of Freight Car 206 at Preston Workshops. This tram began as one of 10 single truck saloon trams built by J.G. Brill & Co., USA and assembled by Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide. It entered service for the NMETL as tram number 5 on 13/10/1906. It was transferred to MMTB and renumbered as U class tram 206 on 1/8/1922. It was withdrawn from service in 1938 and was converted to a freight car. In November 1947 it was withdrawn from service as a spare freight car after a bad accident and remained in storage until March 1950 when it was scrapped.trams, tramways, freight tram, preston workshops, nmetl, tram 206 -

Black and white photograph of 2 trams at Preston Workshops c1948 First tram 500 is a W2 class tram built by MMTB at Preston Workshops in 1928. It entered service 27/4/1928 and was withdrawn from service and sold in 1981. The tram's destination is shown as "Special". The tram has been fitted "T" lettered taillights. The second tram, 198, is a Q1 class single truck straight-sill combination tram built by the MMTB at Holden St Workshops. It entered service in 1923 and was reclassified as a Q class tram. It was converted to all night service in 1937 and operated until 1957. The tram is a maximum- traction bogie, drop-end-and-centre combination tram built by Duncan & Fraser, Adelaide in 1913 for the PMTT. The photo was taken at Batman Avenue in 1925 and shows a driver adjusting the rear pantograph and the conductor at the front of the tram.
