Equipment - Glass Jar, F H Faulding
Most surgical wounds are closed primarily, but some are allowed to heal by secondary intention. This usually involves repeated packing and dressing of the raw wound surfaces. Although the long-term care of such wounds has devolved to the care of nurses in the community or out-patient setting, the initial wound dressing or cavity packing is done by the surgeon in the operating theatre. Many surgeons are unaware of the growth of the discipline of wound care, and still use traditional soaked gauze for dressing and packing open surgical wounds and cavities. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1963638/ The control of bleeding and wound management is vitally important for the survival of the patient.Clear glass round jar and lid, with heavy metal screw turning. christening robe, C 1900
Christening gowns are traditional outfits made just for baby’s baptism. They are almost always white and can be very ornate, highly decorated garments. Usually, the christening gown is quite long – much longer than the baby being christened, particularly when it is worn by a young or very small baby. Many families keep a “family” christening gown that has been passed down through various family members and is used for the baptism ceremony. This christening robe was probably used by the Cameron family. The christening gown was a late 18th century innovation usually made of white lawn, muslin or net, longer than the baby and fancier than a day gown. The design was a more moderate version of contemporary adult fashion. Most 19th century christening gowns featured lace. All, until the end of the century, had low necklines and short sleeves. This gown reflects the style of christening robes in the early 20th century. A high waisted, short-sleeved long white broderie anglaise christening robe made of fine cotton. It is hand made edged with machine stitched cut work lace. The bodice is pin tucked.christening-robe clothing-childhood -

Photograph - Documents, Installation of Emeritus Professor Geoffrey Blainey as the Foundation Chancellor of the University of Ballarat, 1994
The Chancellor is the head of the university and presides over meetings of Council. The Chancellor is also an ex officio member of all other bodies of the University. As well as being the traditional colour of embellishment on a Chancellor's gown, gold also provides a tangible link between the new university and its Ballarat ancestry. Academic gowns distinguish between the university's senior office holders, The design of the Chancellor's gown at the University of Ballarat is based on an Oxford and Cambridge tradition for university Chancellors' robes. It is made after the style of an English Queen's Counsel gown, with appropriate traditional adornment (chevrons) on the sleeves and edges. The decorative braiding is in gold oak-leaf braid. The velvet trencher with gold tassel is the traditional headwear for a Chancellor. Black and white 16 page booklet with a primarily black cover. The booklet is the programme for the installation of Emeritus Professor Geoffrey Blainey as the foundation Chancellor of the University of Ballarat. The contents include an order of proceedings, history, Geoffrey Blainey, the role of Chancellor, the chancellor's regalia, University of Ballarat logo.university of ballarat, chancellor, geoffrey blainey, blainey, governor of victoria, richard mcgarvie, bill pryor, nina valentine, david james, vern robson, lee francis, david fitzgerald, redmond barry, ballarat school of mines -

Photograph, Eden Society Studios, Miss Jennings [probably Martha Emily Jennings]
This photograph has been variously identified as "Miss Jennings", "Emily Jennings", and "Ilma Jennings", and also as "Reg Jennings' sister" and "Reg Jennings' aunt". It is most likely of Martha Emily Jennings, born 1876 (known as Emily), the oldest daughter of Jonathan and Martha Jennings (née Bersey). Martha Emily Jennings had a brother Reginald (born1899) and also had a nephew Reginald (the son of her brother William Jonathan Jennings). It is unlikely to be a photograph of Ilma Jennings (a daughter of William Jonathan Jennings and niece of Martha Emily Jennings) who was not born until 1909. The photograph was taken by "Eden Society Studios", a Sydney photographic studio which operated between 1895 and 1900.Sepia photograph of a young lady wearing a gown with pintucking on bodice and sleeves, and with a lace collar.
