Rose Series postcard No. P 1040, titled "Flinders Street Railway Station, Melbourne" showing the entrance to the station, many motor cars, some with black-out headlight covers, a MMTB Leyland bus, and a W2 class tram either 288 or 388 (Kew Depot cars at the time.) with the destination of Spencer St. This would have to be one of the first W2 class cars to have the metal gutter replaced by a storm/drip rail. There is an advertising board on the railway station verandah, advertising Liberty Loans. A souvenir envelope that contained a series of photographs of scenic attractions taken in and around Marysville in Victoria that was produced by the Rose Stereograph Company.A souvenir envelope that contained a series of photographs of scenic attractions taken in and around Marysville in Victoria that was produced by the Rose Stereograph Company. The photographs were used for a series of photographs and postcards published by the Rose Stereograph Company in Armadale, Victoria. This envelope was sold by The Log Cabin in Marysville as a souvenir of Marysville. The Log Cabin was built by Thomas Henry Branchflower who had arrived from England late in 1921. It was built for Gwendoline Pitman after the death of her father Clarence Pitman and the disappearance of her sister Olive in July 1926. The history of the church goes back to 1872 when Jesuits purchased land in Walpole Street. By 1875 Archbishop Gould had laid a foundation stone on 14 February for a school. Early services for local Catholics were held in Richmond, Collingwood and later Hawthorn. By 1899 the land for the current church was purchased after a donation by Mr James Crotty of 3,000.00. The foundation stone was laid on 15 December 1918 by Archbishop Mannix. The dimensions of the church were to be 139 feet long by 77 feet wide with seating for 850 people. Hung in the public bar of the Rose and Crown Hotel in Bay Street soon after the 2nd World War until major renovations were carried out in aprrox 1986/7. It was then returned or donated to the Port Melbourne Sub-Branch of the RSL, but due to diminishing membership they soon donated it to the PMCC for safe keeping or display. The hat was owned, worn and donated by by Jill O'Brien, member of the Kew Historical Society and a former mayor of Kew. The rose is a later addition.The Kew Historical Society’s fashion and design collection is comprised of costumes, hats, shoes and personal accessories. Many of these items were purchased or handmade in Victoria; some locally in Kew. The extensive hat collection comprises items dating from the 1860s to the 1970s. While most of the hats in the collection were created by milliners for women, there are a number of early and important men’s hats in the collection. The headwear collection is particularly significant in that it includes the work of notable Australian and international milliners.Soft pink coloured woman’s hat; the high crown swathed in fine pink silk, while the brim is covered with white chiffon.
