Herbert enlisted in the AIF on 26.6.1917 age 18 years in the 25th Reinforcements 14th Bn No 7596, embarked for England 21.11.1917, disembark 5.1.1918, attends 4th Div Signal School, embarks for France 29.7.1918 to reinforce 13th Bn, RTA 1.11.1919, discharged from the AIF 14.1.1920. He enlists in the CMF on 3.5.1939 No V1629, appointed Lt 3.12.1937, transfers to the 2nd AIF 10.9.1942 as VX104280, joins the Interim Army 1.7.1947 till 7.6.1948, appointment terminated with the rank of Lt Col. Victorian Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VIOSH) Australia is the Asia-Pacific centre for teaching and research in occupational health and safety (OHS) and is known as one of Australia's leaders on the field. VIOSH has a global reputation for its innovative approach within the field of OHS management. VIOSH had its first intake of students in 1979. At that time the Institution was known as the Ballarat College of Advanced Education. In 1990 it became known as Ballarat University College, then in 1994 as University of Ballarat. It was 2014 that it became Federation University. VIOSH Australia students are safety managers, senior advisors and experienced OHS professionals. They come from all over Australia and industry. Students are taught active research and enquiry; rather than textbook learning and a one-size fits all approach. VIOSH accepts people into the Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hazard Management who have no undergraduate degree - on the basis of extensive work experience and knowledge. Lisa Lodge Girls' Hostel, Ballarat, was established in 1970 and was run by a committee of women. All the women were Honorary Probation Officers. It provided residential care for eight adolescent girls at a time. Lisa Lodge was located in a number of different properties around Ballarat. The Hostel closed in 1994. Some time after this, Hayeslee House (another home in Ballarat, run by the same committee) became known as Lisa Lodge. This Committee managed a number of institutions in the Ballarat region. Another institution to start in 1994 was Berry Street Incorporated that amalgamated with Sutherland Child, Youth and Family Services. In 2009 Berry Street was the largest independent child and family welfare organisation in Victoria. In 2012 Lisa Lodge merged with Berry Street to strengthen Berry Street's services provided in the Grampians Region of Victoria. This research paper explores the first ten years of Lisa Lodge. Of note is Lisa Lodge was set up by a group of women for a group of women. It depended on donations to continue operating. Data was collected through interviews and analysing minutes of meetings. Correspondence and newspaper clipping were also used. This is a historical report so there are no recommendations. Before proceeding with this project, Beverlee Leith had to seek approval from the Human Research Ethics Committee, University of Ballarat. Marysville Ski Centre is a family-owned business, which has been operated by Nat and Beryl Morandi since 1981. The business started from very humble beginnings hiring toboggans at Lake Mountain initially from the back of a Bedford Van, and then upgraded to a rickety old shed with the addition of ski equipment for hire. In 1983, Marysville Ski Centre commenced business in its current position in Marysville. Then this building was destroyed, along with most of the buildings in Marysville, during the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires.
