Demonstrates aspects of the Ballarat Tramways at the end of the 2nd world war - when the tramway traffic was still high. Gives details of working hours, rosters for the week for crews. Shows the additional trams to the basic service on Weekdays and hours of one man operation.Set of two copies of Table or Run sheets for the Ballarat Tramways c1945. Each set comprises 45 small typed sheets held together by a brass clip for Weekdays and Saturdays. Numbered Runs 1 to 33. Some Runs comprise two sheets. Each run details where the driver/conductor would sign on, time, the trips, meal breaks, finish time. Some hand alterations made on a few of the sheets. Some have a large purple pencil mark giving the run table number. Shows the tram operations with many short workings. Postcard - Folder set, Valentine & Sons Publishing Co, "Geelong Photographic Souvenir", early 1920's
Shows views of the Geelong CBD and beach area in the 1930's including one tram photo and two other photos of trams in the street and the centre poles which were later removed. Demonstrates production of souvenirs of the era - folded postcards. The photos could also be used for individual postcards.Set of 15 black and white views of Geelong printed on a folded strip, glued within a manila colour cardboard folder, titled "Geelong Photographic Souvenir". Booklet printed with an address area with title and kookaburras and on the rear, an area where the sender could write their name. Produced by The Valentine Publishing Co. Pty Ltd Melbourne. The rear has a slit on the rear cover that allowed the folder to be secured. Pictures are: 1. Panorama of Eastern Beach Geelong 2. Eastern Beach Gardens 3. Eastern Beach 4. Ryrie St with centre poles and a tram in the distance. 5. Botanic Gardens 6. Johnstone Park 7. Gordon Technical College 8. Significant in being a detailed set of instructions for parking trams, hand overs, relief, responsibility for the security of the tram, including leaving the tram unattended. Regrettable incidents have happened. Issued 1965. Follows on from Reg item 261 an earlier version, but with less detailed instructions and no explanation.Two foolscap duplicated sheets titled "Special Order to Motormen (49/1)" giving instructions regarding 1) Responsibility (for trams), 2) Relief on the road, 3) Controller key, 4) Air brake handle, 5) leaving tram unattended with definition, general precautions, special precautions - such as parking the tram at Lydiard St North, parking trams at City Loop and 6) an explanation on the braking system at either end of the tram. Dated 25 January 1961. Printed from wax stencil and stapled along the top edge. Signed by F. K. White Manager. Demonstrates aspects of the Ballarat Tramways ticketing system for use with the daily return from Sebastopol (See Reg Item 3492 for check ticket). Printed by ESCo for a specific route and particularly historic because a weekly set of tickets has been formed.Set of six Day return (4d) tickets for travel between Sebastopol and Grenville St - one for each day of the week. Have day of month around the edge, where it would have been nipped on the inward journey. Notes condition of use and that it must be given up on the return journey for a check ticket - See Reg. Ninety six page book with blue cover, titled "Federal Rules of the Australian Tramway and Motor Omnibus Employee's Association" as amended by the Australian Council 1969. Cover - light blue cover, saddle stapled with two staples to the off white printed rules of the Union. Rules printed on 76 pages, with pages 77 to 80 numbered only and the last 16 pages un-numbered. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Block of 200 tickets - light red ink on off white paper, original denomination 5c, lettered A 175000 to A 175199, headed Ballarat Tourist Tramway and over stamped "CHECK TICKET NO VALUE". The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple. See also Reg. Item 2234 for over stamped 5c tickets using a different stamp. The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Original block A100000 to A100200 added 30/6/2004 - from BTM archives., Note different stamped used on ticket. Tickets originally printed for general use on the trams 1974. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Block of 100 tickets - green ink on off white paper, with ticket number in green ink denomination 50c, headed Ballarat Vintage Tramway. On rear in green ink is an advertisement for the Tram Family Restaurant, corner Macarthur and Drummond St. North. The 100 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy brown cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small brown cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. 2210 - A000001 to A000100 (The first block collected at the time of issue 6/3/1988) The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Tickets in use as adult return fare from 12/3/88 to 30/6/91 and child return fare from 1/7/1991 to 1/11/98. Note last block issued 8/1/1991. Trams tramways Track ...Length of 5/8ths of inch or approx. 15.5mm diameter steel bar, which has been heated and formed at one end to give an eye approx. 32mm internal diameter and hammered and ground to form a point edge at the opposite end forming a point bar. Used by Ballarat Tram crews to change tram track points. Standard equipment to all tramcars (two each). This particular point bar was reportedly located at the Lydiard St. and Sturt St. intersection for use by inspectors and other tram crew to change the points at this intersection without obtaining a point bar from the tramcar itself. Taken by a Brisbane Tramway Museum Society member at the time of closure. The point bar was repainted by the BTMS in the green colour scheme prior to presentation to the BTPS/BTM during the 1992 COTMA Perth Conference to Carolyn Dean. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Four Blocks of 100 tickets - black ink on off white paper, with ticket number in black ink denomination $1, headed Ballarat Vintage Tramway. On rear in black ink is an advertisement for the Tram Family Restaurant, corner Macarthur and Drummond St. North. The 100 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy brown cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small brown cardboard retaining strip or butt at the top of the ticket. 2432.1 - A00001 to A00100 (The first block collected at the time of issue 1/12/1987) 2432.2 - A00201 to A00300 (collected at the same time) 2432.3 - A00301 to A00400 (collected at the same time) 2433.4 - A00001 to A00100 (lighter black ink, larger block size the others, was part of a rejected run of tickets by the printer, printing too light, wrong type of paper and too large size to that ordered, rest of tickets were returned.) The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Tickets in use as adult return fare from 1/12/87 to 30/6/91. Note last block issued 19/1/1991. Yields information about the closure of the SEC operated Ballarat system - presented in an unorganised manner and without newspaper dates.Set of about 6 newspaper clippings glued to a sheet of lined paper. Cuttings from the Ballarat Courier, date from around 23 August 1971 following the closure of the Victoria St lines and part of the Gardens route. Includes a poem titled "Vale, the Tramways!", written by SMP, an item by a staff report going to to school by tram in Victoria St and Sturt St ""Will miss the tram". Other items "Work begins on Lake Route" about the BTPS agreement with Council, quotes Paul Nicholson, removal of parking meters, derailment at the depot, and bus stop signs being damaged.
