Yields information about the view of the City of Ballaarat in 1968 about the possible replacement of tram service.Report or Submission - 6 Gestener printed foolscap sheets, stapled on left hand side and bound with a blue edging tape titled "Submission to Enquiry into Public Transport Facilities in the Ballarat Urban District by A. W. Nicholson, Mayor of Ballaarat Council". Dated 2 April 1968. Submission looks at the possible closure or the future of the tramway system, the SEC involvement, employment, road surface repairs, financial loss to the SEC, reduction in passengers due to car ownership. Council submitted that the tramway system should be retained and extended and that pensioner concessions should be continued. Notes that at the time 69 men on the trams, 18 at the depot and 8 on the track. If replaced by buses, supported a government owned bus provider rather than private. In the background is the George Hotel, St Paul's Technical College, and Union Fidelity Trustee Company buildings in the background. Yields information about Ballarat 17 in an accident with a bus used a doughnut kitchen and S.E. Dickins Store, Bridge St Ballarat.Set of four images of photographs (two each same, different exposure) of Black and white photographs of SEC Tram 17 and a former bus used a food vendors stand, that have finished up in the front of S.E. Dickins Pty Ltd. (Grocers) store c1949. The tram derailed at the intersection of Sturt and Grenville St. collided with the bus and pushed it into the front of the store. Many people standing around the incident, including two trammies in front of the tram. Yields information and demonstrates the tickets used to transport parcels on the SEC tramway operations.Set of five packs or blocks of 25 SEC 10c Parcel Tickets. Two part printed and perforated ticket, using red or orange ink on white paper with a gummed back - used 1966 to 1969. Form No. TYE-3-590 The upper portion has a gummed strip on the rear, with price and ticket number printed onto the lower edge. The lower portion was retained by the sender, was to be initialled by the conductor, organisation name, "Parcel Ticket 10c", conditions of use, ticket number and a space where to be initialled by the conductor. The 1966 Schedule of Fares and Charges gives the conditions of the use of these tickets. See Reg. Has a strong association with tram crews and the rosters crew workings and Norm Hunt. Prepared by crews from sheets to enable them to know what service times to run, meal times, details of crew changes etc, based on their allocated shift or run from the roster.Notebook - 60 pages with brown card covers, wire spiral bound - Croxley or John Dixon Product with the Croxley symbol on the front cover and a list of their wire bound books on the rear. Each sheet faint ruled, both sides. Each sheet, the typewritten details of each SEC Ballarat run - giving sign on times, notes, timetables, which run taken or taken by, meal times, notes with regard to special instructions, finish times and total hours worked. Separated for Weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The May 1970 roster? On the last sheet has a heading "Owe Days", with names and number of days owed. Uniform - Cap, Commonwealth Government Clothing Factories Melbourne, 1960's
Demonstrates uniform cap manufacture, badge and has a strong association with a former Ballarat Driver - Norm HuntSEC Motorman/Drivers/Conductors cap - green cloth exterior, grey cotton interior lining, brown leather internal hat band, black cotton hat band on exterior with a plastic band at the front half of the cap terminating in two small SEC metal buttons on either side, black plastic peak fitted with cap or badge No. 20, nickel plated silver, in the centre of the cap above the hat band. Sewn on the inside is a label "Commonwealth Government Clothing Factories Melbourne (very faded)" and stamped "6 3/4". See also Reg. Item 3044 for an ex Geelong cap. Gives details of where purchased from , date of purchase, type, body builder, seating capacity, overall length, overall height, overall width, condition of tram, trolley base, Lightning arrester, controller make and type, Truck Maker and type, type of truck, axle type, wheel base, axle diameter, motors type and maker, Motor horsepower, Armature bearings, suspension bearings, gear teeth, Air compressor make and type, Brake Valves make and type, Governor make and type, Weight in tons and details of advertising space in racks. At base has typed (original) list of trams of the two types, single truckers and bogie trams. List of trams includes the scrubber and No. 20 which was scrapped prior to system closure. Demonstrates how suggestions to Management of the SEC depot were made by tram employees and has a strong association with the tram crews.Sign - made from sheet metal, folded and welded to provide a suggestion box for the Ballarat Tram Depot. Has the word "Suggestions" in large Red capital letters, a large tray or box for receiving the suggestions (not too sure how you got them out without undoing the sign and shaking the items - if any - out) and an area for an instruction to be displayed. Painted both sides in a cream colour (SEC tramway cream). Has two screw holes in the top corners. Yields information about the track maintenance activities of the track gang in Ballarat, the work they did, notes, names and other information.Book - SEC "Workshop Job Requisition" book - numbered 2856 to 2900, three sheets per requisition - yellow, blue and off white kept in book. Has some 20 areas where information on the requisition could be recorded - on the rear sheet is provision for extending the cost of the job and accounting information. The off white sheet has been by the SEC Ballarat track gang to record their daily work, welding, track cleaning, etc for the period 1-8-1950 to 12-2-1951.
