Elmac Hydroponics operated at Allansford from 1997 to 2004, growing tomatoes hydoponically. The owners were Keith Ellerton and Graeme MacLeod. There were 2000 Square metres of hothouses with over 5000 plants. This trophy from the Victorian farm Entrepreneur Awards was for the use of a system called autopots. This system relied upon a process of automatic watering through valves at the bottom of the pots.The growing of vegetables hydoponically was a relatively new and innovative system of agriculture. The Elmac business proved that it could be done in the climate of the region. Margaret Teresa (Mag) Gorman, 1904-1997, was a daughter of Timothy Gorman and his wife Mary (née Scolari). She was a noted card player and enjoyed fine crochet work. She never married, instead devoting much of her life to looking after her mother. A photograph of two of the showcases and display boards that were used at an exhibition on early Sunbury wineries, that was mounted at the George Evans Museum from August 1996 to January 1997. On display were photographs of the early wine-makers and their vineyards as well as some equipment used in wine-making. The group was taken at a function celebrating the work of volunteers in the City of Hume. The six ladies seated were honoured as they had worked as volunteers within the community for over 30 years. These two photos were taken in front of the flagpole at the Army Survey Regiment, Fortuna probably in 1986. LTCOL Don Swiney MBE was appointed as CO of the Army Survey Regiment from 1985 to 1987. He was subsequently promoted to Colonel and was Director of the Royal Australian Survey Corp from November 1988 to January 1991, and the honorary position as Colonel Commandant from January 1993 to January 1996. In 1985, he and his wife Robyn set up the Torvil Pottery at Buninyong, Victoria. In 1991, they relocated to a 10 acre property in nearby Magpie and set up the Ballarat Clayfire Gallery with a working studio, gallery and residence. Legacy had many programs to send young legatees on activities and outings. A trip to the snow was organised many times over the years. Here a group of junior legatees enjoy themselves on skis in the snow. It was a nordic skiing weekend at Lake Mountain outside Marysville in August 1987. Widows are conducting a sale of craft items in a shopping arcade. It is possible the items sold were those made for the annual Art and Craft Exhibitions. The Legacy signs say "Legacy caring for Australia's biggest family". The trading tables are outside a Boyles Sweets shop and a Franklins No Frills supermarket in an unknown shopping centre. Boyles Sweets closed down by July 1993 so it was before then. Names unknown. Mrs Winifred Fotheringham who helped launch the 1990 Legacy week as she was the oldest Legacy widow and had reached 101 years of age. She was taken to the new building at 101 Collins St to promote Legacy Week. She arrived in a Rolls Royce with Legatee Peter Boulter and was given flowers and chocolates. Photos show them on a tour of the building which at the time was going to be the tallest in Melbourne.
