Great Ryrie Primary School is a result of the merger between Ringwood, Southwood and Heathmont Primary Schools. In April 1998 the school opened on a brand new site in Great Ryrie Street, Heathmont (source: Letter from the Principal, Brian Allen, 23rd March 1999). The celebrations in 1997 were organized by the Warrnambool 150th Anniversary Co-ordinating Committee headed by Frank Jacobs, These limited edition medals are an important memento of the celebrations held in Warrnambool in 1997 to mark the 150th anniversary of the city. These are two medals struck to commemorate Warrnambool’s 150th anniversary in 1997. The medals are circular in shape and brass and have an image of a sailing ship. Then we travelled to Laughing Waters Road where we saw two interesting houses owned and built by well known landscape gardener Gordon Ford. Two notecards published by Legacy to commemorate the installation and dedication of the 'Widow and Children' statue on Tuesday 29th September 1998 in the Legacy Garden of Appreciation. Sports Clubs in Kew in the final decades of the 19th century and in the early 20th century were often umbrella organisations with facilities for a number of sports. Typically in Kew, this included teams in lawn bowls, tennis and croquet. The Kew Bowling Club was formed in 1880 while the privately owned Auburn Heights Recreation Club was opened in 1904. By 1998, the two Clubs decided to amalgamate at the Auburn Heights site in Barkers Road, forming the Kew Heights Sports Club. The combined club was itself taken over by the Melbourne Cricket Club in 2012 becoming MCC Kew Sports Club. In 2017 MCC Kew closed and its landholding was subsequently sold to Carey Baptist Grammar School. Both the Kew and Auburn Heights Clubs assembled important collections. These historically significant and large collections were donated to the Society in 2020.
