Badges from the Harbour Lights Guild were found in a bag in the archives. 20 of them were framed as memorabilia to give to women of substance of the Mission as a token of appreciation. The number 2 was given to Linda Dessau, Governor of Victoria, in 2017. Opened on Tuesday, November 15th, 1921 the Hall was erected by the Citizens of Bendigo to commemorate the deeds of the men and women of the district who served in the Great War. Now one of the largest Memorial Museums in the country the Bendigo Soldiers Memorial is now home to a broad range of military memorabilia. Situated on the highly visible Pall Mall, the hall was redeveloped and officially reopened as a museum in 2018. Organisations that Dorothy Anderson belonged to included many items to represent their clubs eg. badges, spoons, activities eg. crocheting. Dorothy lived in Tawonga indicating that those clubs existed in the town/area and were typical of regional areas of the time. These items were the property of Tawonga Citizen, Mrs Dorothy Anderson, who passed away in 2014, aged 90 years. She belonged to local clubs which existed in the area and acquired memorabilia belonging to those clubs and activities thus giving an insight into the life of women in regional towns. Arthur Henry Dear was an employee of the City of Kew, acting as Hall Keeper of the Kew Recreation Hall in Wellington Street, and later the new Kew City Hall in Cotham Road. The Arthur Dear Collection contains memorabilia - tickets, programmes, invitations - as well as his identification badge. Items in the collection dates from the 1940s to the 1970s. Some items in the collection predate his period of service and must have been in the archives of the Hall. The Kew Recreation Hall (Wellington Street) and later the Kew City Hall (Cotham Road) were major locations in suburban Melbourne in the postwar period for civic and private events including theatre productions and exhibitions. The Arthur Dear Collection (in conjunction with the scrapbooks compiled by Marion Tilley) provide a comprehensive snapshot of performing arts in Kew. The collection includes valuable data about performances, performers, directors etc. Admission ticket (sic) to a performance of Arrah-Na-Pogue, a beautiful Irish drama by Dion Boucicault, at the Kew Recreation Hall on Monday 2 September 1895. The yellow ticket includes details of the performance including the name of the company performing the play - Mr. Lyons Talented Dramatic Company. This label comes from the business of Howard Sleath. He was a 20th century violin and viola maker and repairer from Queensland. The label is probably part of the memorabilia of Edith Jacobs (nee Larwill) who was a 20th century Queensland violinist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra before her marriage and change of residence to Warrnambool. The Warrnambool and District Historical Society has some of Edith Jacobs’ violin strings and the label may have come with them. This label is retained for display purposes and possibly as a memento of a local Warrnambool musician, Edith Jacobs. Book was awarded to Stephen John Holgate in 1891 for first prize in bookkeeping. Stephen (D.O.B. 09/07/1877) entered the college on 27/01/1890. The original registry notes parent as Stephen Holgate from Miners Rest and Stephen's previously school is noted as 'Home Tuition'. Other family members noted as attending the college are Harold, George, Edward, Robert and Thomas. Archives also hold war memorabilia for Edward and George Holgate.Presbyterian educators placed great value on a classical education matched with diligence in study. Book prizes were highly regarded and academic success admired. In the school’s early years prizes were ordered direct from London and had the school crest embossed in gold on the front or back cover. Donated to the Running Stitch collection by Mrs Faulkner of Bendigo after she saw the exhibition curated by Murray Walker at the Museum of Victoria in 1985 of memorabilia. Mrs Faulkner sent the wagga down on the train and Lois Densham picked it up from 'Travellers Aid' at Spencer Sreet station. Mrs Faulkner made this wagga for her father in his later years when a hot water bottle was considered too dangerous and a blanket was not warm enough.Printed cretonne cover of yellow and orange flowers, covering a wagga style quilt made of two standard size wheat bags opened out and stitched together.
