Has a number of parked vehicles in kerbs, two people riding horses, a Vacuum Oil Co. truck in the bottom right hand corner and an SEC tram travelling west, just past the City Loop points. Pamphlet titled "Melbourne's Painted Trams" with subtitle "Transporting Art", printed on one side of a single sheet of art paper, then folded in half, then folded in concertina style (6 panels), featuring the 15 Melbourne W2 class tramcars that were painted in the years between 1978 and 1982. Provides notes on the artists, their thoughts on the projects and details of the project. Sponsored by the Victorian Ministry for the Arts and Ministry of Transport. Notes that 14 of 15 trams had reached the end of their working lives and were to be auctioned on 7/12/1986, that No. 504, Clifton Pugh was to be donated to Museum of Victoria and that a new series of 20 painted trams were being sponsored. Twenty four page book including card covers on glossy paper titled "The Essendon Tramways" written by Jack Richardson, published by Traction Publications, Historical Series No. 153 in 1963. The story of the North Melbourne and Electric Tramway and Lighting Company. Note on page 3, advises that this book was the 2nd edition. Price at the time 3/- Details the historical background, a map of the tramway in 1906, relationship with the Victorian Railways, construction, rolling stock, carbarn, (depot) power station, overhead, takeover by the MMTB, connection to the City, 1963 map, expansion under the MMTB, services at the time of publication, Rolling Stock Roster, notes on some of the personnel of the tramway, junction details and dates of the various extensions etc. Includes a number of photographs, a list of railway and tramway books published by Traction Publications, a publishers note and on the rear cover a short biography on the author. 2459.1 - 1st edition of book - no cover page, rear cover remains. In the overhead can be seen the pan for assisting the driver to put the rear pole onto the wire. Produced by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Sets out the constitution and objects of Victorian State Power system, notes Act of Parliament of 1918, Yallourn, Newport B, Richmond, Ballarat and Geelong Power stations, Sugarloaf - Rubicon Hydro electric stations. Other subjects are Rural Electrification, system growth, tariffs, and financial stability, Kiewa, and future planning. Item caption notes the Victorian Country Fire Brigades annual demonstration in Ballarat the previous day and "The tram decorated with flowers in an attractive feature of Ballarat's floral festival." Black and white photograph of Ballarat No. 32 soon after arrival at the Lydiard St. terminus on 23/7/1961. Tram showing SPECIAL on a Victorian School Railway Clubs Association Tour (VSRCA). Photo taken by Dave Macartney. Date was shown as 25/7, but later corrected - 12/2006 Tram has Cinzano roof advertisements and advertisements for White Horse Whiskey and The Age newspaper on the front dash panel. In the background is the shelter at the terminus. Photo also shows the trolley pole pan placed at a terminus to assist with the location of the trolley pole at night. Ticket - printed on dark green paper with red strip on the right hand side for the Victorian Railways, St Kilda Brighton Electric Street Railway. Preprinted ticket, good for one journey during Feb. 1922 only - ticket number 048 on left hand side and 059 and 060 on right hand side. Good for Sections 1 to 4, between St Kilda and Park St. Sheet has been perforated vertically and horizontally. Would appear that these were pre-purchased, torn off horizontally by the passenger, handed to the conductor who would tear it in half (vertically) and return one half to the passenger.
