David Lanyon undertook many aspects of mining progressing to become the underground boss of the New Chum United Mine. In 1894 he became a member of the Bendigo Stock exchange and a successful speculator. He then moved into a new home, "Raelwa" in Beech St., GoldenSquare. This substantial home was designed by architect, Mr William Beebe10563.3a David & Augusta Lanyon outside their (Miner's Cottage) home in Ophir Street, Bendigo. Photo of Pioneers of Bendigo (copy or original). Men's photos are numbered with corresponding name on bottom of image. A large photograph was issued from the studio of Mr. H. Hanson, of McCrae street, to the order of Mr. R. Walker of Melbourne. The original Photograph is owned by Sandhurst Trustees Bendigo. It has six additional photographs attached. There are 472 photographs of pioneers of Bendigo. The earliest of these arrived in 1851 and most of them by 1860. The great majority, however, were pioneers from 1851 to 1856. Temperance Hall was designed by Vahland and Getzschmann. The building next was also built by Vahland and Getzschmann as a residence for Robert Strickland, later it was acquired by Dr. Oliver Penfold who extended the building and set up his medical practice . Document. Dr. J.J.Ridge has prepared the following list of Simple Remedies for relief of pain, for colic, faintness, and palpitation. 1. WATER as hot as can be conveniently swallowed, either alone or slightly sweetened. To be sipped. Even cold water stimulates the heart without exhausting it. 2. GINGER TEA:- One teaspoonful of powdered ginger to a teacupful of boiling water; sweeten, sip hot. 3. HERB TEA:- A teaspoonful of powdered sage, mint, or similar herb, to a teacupful of boiling water; sweeten, sip hot. 4. MEAT EXTRACT:- A teaspoonful of Liebig's Extract or Bovril in a wineglassful of hot water, with herb flavouring if preferred. This is a special heart stimulant. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. Black & white photograph 20cm x 15cm of the Bendigo Butter Factory in Mundy St., mounted on cardboard. It appears to have been part of a display, with explanatory notes attached to each photograph. See 11011.30. On the reverse is the date 1950-1955 and a blue registration stamp with the words 'Pure creamery, Australia, Victoria regd'. Photograph is of the front entrance to the factory, with a small delivery van parked outside. The van has 'Mundy St' and 'Phone 82' along with a diagram of a square of butter. Above the front entrance to the factory are the words ' H & N Bendigo Butter & Ice Factory'. There is a small sign advertising ice sales.
