Photocopies of Registers of Shareholders of the Ballaarat Tramway Company Limited, obtained by Alan Bradley from the Victorian Public Records Office (c1995). 2809.1 - Two page photocopy of a handwritten list (was a larger sheet) of the Company directors giving name, address, occupation and whether Director or Secretary. Three page list of the shareholders, giving number of shares held, Surname, Christian Name, Address, Occupation in alphabetical order. List totals 23000 shares, with 17038 held by the contractor for the construction. 2809.2 - Eight page photocopy of a handwritten list of the shareholders at 21/4/1903. Has a cover sheet of the Victorian Registrar General dated 11/6/2003. Second page gives details of share holdings, (32,000 in total), the amount paid on each share, calls unpaid, forfeited shares. Uniform - Cap, Commonwealth Government Clothing Factories Melbourne, 1960's
Demonstrates uniform cap manufacture, badge and has a strong association with a former Ballarat Driver - Jock Menzies.SEC Motorman/Drivers/Conductors cap - green cloth exterior, grey cotton interior lining, brown leather internal hat band, black cotton hat band on exterior with a plastic band at the front half of the cap terminating in two small SEC metal buttons on either side, black plastic peak fitted with cap or badge No. 60, nickel plated silver, in the centre of the cap above the hat band. Poster - Glass, Poster, Ballaarat Tramway Co. Ltd, 1889
Sheet of glass, cut to a shape, with the Ballaarat Tramway Co. By-laws - original copy, adhered to the one surface of the glass. See also item 783 or details of the By-Laws. proclaimed by the City of Ballaarat April 6?1889 and gazetted April 5 1889. Has 25 different by-laws. See item No. 1 for details of horse tram. Sheet of glass with the by-laws was found in one corner of the horse tram No. 1 when recovered. Sheet of glass was cracked in two locations and the paper of the by-laws has adhered to the glass. There is also a section of glass missing in the top right hand corner of the glass. When salvaged, placed onto a sheet of cardboard and lengths of sticky tape run across the glass and the cracks in the glass to keep it on the cardboard. Since removed from the cardboard and placed on sheets of acid - free board. Handle with care. Mentions track in Wendouree Parade, temporary storage of trams in the depot, tramcars to be allocated to the BTPS, findings of the Tourism Committee and comments from Councillors. Also notes statement by Mr. Tom Evans about the approval of the SEC for the used of the existing depot for storage until the new depot is built. Suggest that a bogey (bogie) be kept to enable the reconstruction of a horse tram. V. Mawby in the Electra Hall, following his appointment at Departmental Tramway Superintendent in Melbourne. Has been with the SEC for 29 years. Gives details of the speakers at the function. 2 - untitled, dated 3-2-1951, about the appointment of Mr,. L.J. Denmead as SEC Branch Tramway Superintendent. Notes he was formally with the MMTB. 3 - "Popular Tramway Inspector Dead" - 10-6-1949 - reporting one the death of Harold Phillip (Freddie) James. Worked for the trams for 41 years, was 61 when he died. Gives an outline of his Ballarat activities. 4 - "Recalls Steam Trams" - 15-3-1946 - about the retirement of Mr. W. K. K. Dunstan, as the local branch office manager for the SEC and his commencement in Bendigo when steam trams were operating. 5 - "Drove First Electric Tram" - undated - Mr. G. A. Yields information about the accidents and derailments in Ballarat and collisions with vehicles that resulted in injuries to the driver and major damage to vehicles or passengers.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, 16/4/54 and hand written notes on the collision between with a semi trailer and tram No. 37. Has details of the recovery using tram 21. Newspaper cutting gives details of those trammies involved, Dave Kellett and Herbert Ward. Collided with a semi carrying wool bales. Wal notes the tram was scrapped in 1955. Second cutting notes a derailment of a tram at the junction of Main Road and Victoria St. Noted the delays occurring.
