Denis Gibbons (1937 – 2011) Trained with the Australian Army, before travelling to Vietnam in January 1966, Denis stayed with the 1st Australian Task Force in Nui Dat working as a photographer. For almost five years Gibbons toured with nine Australian infantry battalions, posting compelling war images from within many combat zones before being flown out in late November 1970 after sustaining injuries. Pair of 2 PDR cartridges of WW1 vintage, probably a version used by Naval weapons. These are an example of trench art. These used cartridges have been modified with the addition of three brass 'feet' which have been brazed onto the end of the empty case to enable them to be used as a flower vase. -

Pair of 6 PDR brass cartridge cases of WW2 vintage. These were manufactured in Britain and are a version used by Naval weapons. These used cartridge cases are examples of trench art which have been embossed with bird and flower symbols. These have been made into flower vases. these were manufactured during the 1940s. -
