Records are confusing but it appears he initially enlisted on 1.5.1916 in 20th reinforcements 5th Bn age 19 years 10 months, discharged medically unfit 15.8.1916 not due to misconduct. He was accepted again for specific duty on 20.9.1917 No 19332 in the AAMC and embarked on 25.9.1917 on the No 2 Australian Hospital ship as an Orderly. Percy Andrew Goulburn MAKEPEACE No.3558, enlisted 5.8.15 aged 19 in 8th reinforcements 21st Bn AIF, embarked 29.12.1915 for Eygpt. Transferred to 57th Bn. KIA 24.9.1917 while a Bn runner. He was killed by shell fire while moving to 58th Bn near Polygon Wood. On the rear of the card is a letter to his Mother which appears to be dated Oct 22nd 1915. He tells his mother about a 2nd operation on his leg that was amputated. Sister West is the Nurse behind him and the other is Sister Raymond. .2) The Hospital where Raymond was admitted to in England. .3) On the rear of the Post card in pen, “twin Sisters UREN who were on the Hospital ship Thermistocles on the way home in 1916, they lived in Adelaide. .4) Robert O’Donahoo is the Soldier standing on the left, on the rear of the photo in blue pen, “Caulfield Hospital 1916” The twin Sisters were Catherine Temby UREN, Amelia UREN.
