The photos relate to a collection re Robert O’Donahoo No 1399 AIF WW1. Refer Cat No 1500 for his service history.
.1) Robert is the soldier with the arrow pointing down to him. On the rear of the card is a letter to his Mother which appears to be dated Oct 22nd 1915. He tells his mother about a 2nd operation on his leg that was amputated. Sister West is the Nurse behind him and the other is Sister Raymond.
.2) The Hospital where Raymond was admitted to in England.
.3) On the rear of the Post card in pen, “twin Sisters UREN who were on the Hospital ship Thermistocles on the way home in 1916, they lived in Adelaide.
.4) Robert O’Donahoo is the Soldier standing on the left, on the rear of the photo in blue pen, “Caulfield Hospital 1916”
The twin Sisters were Catherine Temby UREN, Amelia UREN.
Robert had some 15 operations on his leg then a further 3 to correct the position of his leg which is evident in .1)
